Hellooo Chinese baddies 😜
You might have seen the slightly bizarre joke online right now that everyone is Chinese?! 🥲
People are sharing that they are in a ‘very Chinese time’ in their lives’ and ‘becoming Chinese’ 🤔
Basically non-Chinese people are embracing Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) inspired wellness habits 🍐
This trend reflects a general growing interest in wellness practices rooted in Chinese culture and Traditional Chinese Medicine – a health system stemming from thousands of years of East Asian medicine that encompasses acupuncture, cupping and gua sha massage (oi oi!!), as well as food therapy, herbal medicine and movement like qi gong 🌸
We obvs want to be mindful of cultural appreciation over cultural appropriation and remember that Traditional Chinese Medicine is no way just a trend or a fad! It’s something super solid and for life and I am obvs obsessed 4eva 💗
I’ve got a degree in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine and am continuing to learn sooo much every day since graduating. I’ll never know it all. It’s amazeballs 🤯
The trend is a little bit odd but generally seen as positive Chinese representation and not mockery 🫶
Some easy Chinese wisdom tips we can respectfully incorporate into our lives…
✿ Keep your feet warm…House slippers all day, every day 🔥
✿ Daily, gentle movement…Shaking, tapping, qi gong 🙌
✿ Gua sha your face in the mornings 🧖♀️
✿ Warm drinks 🍵
✿ Savoury warm breakfasts like congee 🥣
✿ Sleeeeeep 🛌
✿ No to cold / raw food and drinks, 5am starts, HIIT workouts, fasting and cold plunging ✋
