🐾 National Pet Theft Awareness Day - 14 March 🐾

Today is National Pet Theft Awareness Day, a time to raise awareness about the heart breaking reality of pet theft and what we can do to protect our beloved companions.

Our pets are family. Sadly, every year many dogs, cats and other animals are stolen, leaving owners devastated and animals frightened and displaced. This day is about spreading awareness, supporting affected families, and encouraging responsible steps to keep pets safe.

🔐 Simple ways to protect your pet:
- Make sure your pet is microchipped and registered with up-to-date details
- Never leave pets unattended outside shops or in cars
- Be cautious about sharing real-time locations of your pets on social media
- Ensure your garden and home are secure
- Report any suspicious activity in your area

If your pet ever goes missing, report it immediately, contact your microchip database, local vets, and animal welfare groups, and share responsibly online.💙

A recent pet owner survey revealed that of those who delayed or skipped vaccinations, 1 in 4 (23%) did so because they believed that puppy and kitten vaccines are “enough for life”, while 22% underestimated the importance of vaccination, and 19% delayed boosters as they believe “it could wait”.*

This misconception leaves adult pets potentially vulnerable to serious diseases including parvovirus, leptospirosis and feline panleukopenia

For more info visit: https://uk.mypet.com/vaccinate/

Call the practice on 01239 612479 to book in for your vaccination restart at the cost of a yearly booster, £87.

Invisible threats spread in ordinary places. Walking through puddles, shared water bowls and contact with other animals can all pose risks to cats and dogs.

Vaccination is the most reliable protection from diseases such as parvovirus, leptospirosis, contagious cough and feline panleukopenia.

Use this year’s National Pet Vaccination Month as an opportunity to catch up on any lapsed vaccinations for the cost of a booster, £87.

Every year on International Rescue a Cat Day, we celebrate the incredible impact that adoption can have on the lives of animals and the families who welcome them home. 💙

At Priory Vets, we’re honoured to care for so many amazing rescue kitties. From their first wellness examination to ongoing preventive care, we’re here to support them at every stage of their journey.

Rescue pets often make some of the most loyal, loving companions and with proper veterinary care, they can thrive for years to come. If you’ve been thinking about adding a furry family member, consider contacting the local cat charities in Ceredigion. By choosing adoption, you’re not just gaining a pet, you’re saving a life!

We are so lucky to work with some of the best charities like South Pembrokeshire Cat Rescue , Cat Rescue West Wales 2021, RSPCA Ceredigion Branch, Cats Protection Pembrokeshire - Cats Protection Sir Benfro and Cats Protection Aberystwyth. You guys do incredible work!

Already have a rescue cat? We’d love to see them! Share a picture and their story of how the came to be part of your family!

Happy International Rescue a Cat Day! 😺
