Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria's Children's Hospice provides care for adults in the local area and children across Cumbria with life limiting illnesses. The hospice has a 12 bed adult in-patient unit with eight single en-suite rooms and a four bed room. The home from home environment creates a relaxing atmosphere for patients and families with each room overlooking the recently transformed walled garden. The Day Hospice provides care for up to 15 people a day, four days a week. Most days the sweet smell of freshly baked cakes fills the Day Hospice as patients, nurses and volunteers exchange stories about what has happened since they last met. Jigsaw provides care and support for children and young adults from throughout Cumbria. Every day, Jigsaw is filled with laughter and enjoyment as children and young adults take part in a wide range of colourful, creative and sensory activities. The annual cost of providing our services is over Β£3million, with only 27% received from the NHS. The kindness and generosity of the local community raises over Β£2million each year through fundraising events, collection boxes, legacies and much more.

Colin began fundraising in memory of his nephew, baby Gabriel, who received care at Jigsaw. Honouring Gabriel's memory has become Colin's driving force - pushing him to take on challenge after challenge, all while inspiring others to get involved too.

In just one year, Colin completed Bikes Boats Boots, the Great North Run and the Cumbrian Run... and he's not even stopping there! He's already signed up for more events in 2026, including the Edinburgh Half Marathon. πŸ…

His enthusiasm is infectious - he rallies friends, colleagues and the community to support his fundraising efforts! And we're so grateful. Every fundraiser helps ensure that local families receive the same compassionate care that Colin's did.

"You know hospices are there, but you never really think they could affect you or your family and friends. Their services run day in, day out, 24/7 and I don’t think you really appreciate all the hard work that hospices do to give families support.” 🧑

Last year, our amazing receptionist Andrea stepped way outside her comfort zone and took the leap! Literally, 10,000ft up!

Andrea told us, "It was something completely out of my comfort zone, but that's exactly why I wanted to do it. It reminded me of just what we can achieve when we challenge ourselves. Knowing I was doing it to support the hospice made every moment even more meaningful. I did it, and I tell others that they can too!" πŸ’™

Megan Dart, Event Fundraiser, will be talking about the upcoming Race Across Europe event! In just 6 months, 7 teams will take on 8 European cities as they race to get to the finish line first. Similar to BBC's Race Across the World, the teams won't know their destination until they are given an envelope the morning they set off. ⭐

The best part is that the funds raised will support Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria's Children's Hospice, caring for those with life-limiting conditions and their families. 🩡

The interview will feature on tonight's show on Freeview Channel 8 at 6pm. Thank you to Jane Sedgwick - Travel Counsellor, and to all the teams who are taking part! πŸ‘

We receive just 20% of funding through NHS funding, meaning gifts in Wills are a massive part of the care we provide. Without them, our services would look entirely different.

Your gift will go directly to helping people in the local community, meaning that people of Cumbria no longer need to die without access to the best end of life care. πŸ’™

Jigsaw, Cumbria's Children's Hospice has been nominated for the 'Heart of Gold - Charity of the Year' Elite Awards Carlisle πŸ‘

We're so excited to announce that Jigsaw is a finalist at the Elite Awards Carlisle! πŸŽ‰

We have been nominated for the 'Heart of Gold - Charity of the Year' award, which recognises charities/individuals that have made a significant and positive impact on those in Carlisle and the wider Cumberland community. This award is dedicated to those who are improving the lives of children, vulnerable populations, the arts or protecting animals, showcasing exceptional commitment and effectiveness in their charitable efforts.

We are honoured to have been recognised for the expert care and compassion we deliver to babies, children and young people with complex medical and life-limiting conditions. The dedicated team works to support the whole family, along with carers and loved ones, and has become a service that is heavily relied upon.

Jigsaw's offer of respite, knowledge, guidance and specialist facilities is like no other in the county; we are the only children's hospice in Cumbria. It is a place where disabilities can be hung up alongside your coat, and there is always fun to be had and memories to be made. 🧑

It's thanks to our wonderful community of supporters that we can offer this unique and specialist service. Thank you for your ongoing support and kindness! And thank you to whoever surprised us with this wonderful nomination! πŸ‘

When Andrea saw our Memory Tree being created back in 2019, she knew straight away it was the perfect place for her dad, Keith. After the gentle, exceptional care he received, the hospice became a very special place for their family. Andrea has been supporting the hospice in her dad's honour ever since. 🩡

Thank you, Andrea, for choosing such a meaningful way to honour your dad’s memory. His leaf will continue to shine with love. Read Andrea and Keith's story here: https://buff.ly/VFZT4Bp

Anyone can dedicate a leaf and create a lasting tribute, with the funds raised helping the hospice continue providing compassionate care. To find out more, please visit πŸ‘‰ https://buff.ly/uH1oSDD

We had a great time attending and exhibiting at the
Cumbria Chamber of Commerce International Women’s Day - Give To Gain event at the The Greenhill Hotel today.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat and entered our Amazon voucher prize draw, we'll be announcing the winner later this week.

The event’s headline speaker was Suzi Perry, one of the most respected broadcasters in TV and radio. It was wonderful to hear her speak and her career is truly remarkable. The event also featured other great speakers with

Caroline Rayner from Knights covering important workplace topics including neurodiversity, flexible working, menopause support and harassment prevention, insights from Julie Clayton from Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria's Children's Hospice, Jade Clifford from ICan Wellbeing group CIO Emma Sherlock πŸ“‰πŸ“ˆ from
Stan Sherlock Associates and Lauren Allison from Genesis Homes.

Plus a highlight was our CEO and founder Rebecca Bird (MSc HRM, Chartered CIPD) getting a pic alongside the legendary Suzi Perry with Lyndsey Fitheridge HR Assoc.CIPD from Foxgroves Recruitment and Debbie Davidson, Chartered FCIPD from
Davidson HR Associates! 🀩πŸ₯°

It was also great to see Ben Hickman from Reflective Rebels
, Tamar Reay, Janine Sharland from Riverside Recruitment UK, Laura Cadman from Laura Cadman Limited and more!

A really inspiring event celebrating women in business and bringing Cumbria’s business community together.
