πFundraiser ChargeUp Session: Gratitude & Giving π
Since October 2024, Ali Martin and her familyβs lives have changed in ways they never could have imagined. Ali is a primary school teacher in Dunfermline, wife to Graeme, and mum to two young children. She also ran the lovely Zen Kidz.
After 9 long months in hospital, Ali has finally received a diagnosis: sensory ganglionopathy β an extremely rare neurological condition that has turned their world upside down.
This illness has severely affected Aliβs coordination and proprioception. She has lost much of the strength and control in her limbs, making even the simplest daily tasks incredibly challenging.
Ali is preparing to return home β where she belongs β but sadly, her home is no longer suitable for her needs.
She is unable to access the upstairs, so the childrenβs playroom has been turned into a temporary bedroom. There is no downstairs shower, making daily routines exhausting and distressing.
We are raising funds to create a safe, accessible space for Ali β including a downstairs bedroom and a wet room. These changes will give her dignity, comfort, and some independence again.
Waiting for support could take years, but these changes are needed from day one of her return home.
