☃️ WINTER FOOT HEALTH 🎄

🧼 1. Keep Feet Clean and Dry
• Wash your feet daily with warm (not hot) water and mild soap.
• Dry thoroughly, especially between the toes, to prevent fungal infections.
🧴 2. Moisturise Regularly
• Use a thick, emollient-rich foot cream or balm after bathing.
• Focus on heels and soles, but avoid applying between toes to prevent excess moisture buildup.
🧦 3. Wear Warm, Breathable Socks
• Choose wool or moisture-wicking materials to keep feet warm and dry.
• Change socks daily, or more often if they become damp.
👢 4. Choose Proper Footwear
• Wear insulated, waterproof shoes or boots with good grip to prevent slips.
• Make sure shoes fit well to avoid blisters and pressure points.
🧊 5. Protect Against Cold
• Avoid prolonged exposure to cold surfaces or walking barefoot.
• If you suffer from poor circulation, consider thermal insoles or heated socks.

Clocks go back ⏰

⏰ Clocks go back this weekend – and as the nights draw in, some of us may start to feel the effects of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

SAD is a type of depression that often begins in autumn and can make you feel low, tired, and less motivated.

🌞 Top tips to boost your mood:
✔ Get outside during daylight hours
✔ Stay active – even a short walk helps
✔ Keep connected with friends and family
✔ Explore self-help resources and support

👣 Calluses 👣

Calluses are patches of thickened, rough skin that develop as a protective response to repeated pressure or friction. They are larger and less defined than corns, and while often painless, they can become tender or painful and may appear yellowish.

👉 wear thick, cushioned socks
👉 wear wide, comfortable shoes with a low heel and soft sole that do not rub
👉 use soft insoles or heel pads in your shoes
👉 soak corns and calluses in warm water to soften them
👉 regularly use a pumice stone or foot file to remove hard skin
👉 moisturise to help keep skin soft

👣 If you have diabetes, heart disease or problems with your circulation, please don’t let these wee nasties hang around - I can help 👣

👣 A very common problem, that causes so much discomfort, especially when they appear in the most awkward of places 👣

Corns are small, hard, thickened areas of skin on the feet, often caused by pressure or friction from ill-fitting shoes. They are typically painful when pressed and have a hard centre. Wear shoes that fit you really well, soften your skin regularly with moisturiser and cream, and you can also use a protective pad to relieve the pain and pressure.
Be wary of products claiming to remove these… and please don’t hack away at your foot 😱. I can remove these wee nasties in a safe way.
