SILENT PROTEST – END GREYHOUND RACING IN IRELAND

We are asking compassionate people to join us for a silent, peaceful protest calling for an end to greyhound racing in Ireland.

📍 Location: Greenpark Roundabout, Dock Road, Limerick
📅 Date: 18/04/2026
⏰ Time: 6:00pm – 7:30pm

For decades the greyhound racing industry has been protected and funded while thousands of dogs suffer behind the scenes.

Why are we protesting?

• Greyhounds die on Irish racetracks every year from injuries sustained while racing.

• Dogs are euthanised simply for not being fast enough to make money.

• Doping and drug use in racing dogs continues to be exposed.

• Thousands of dogs are exported abroad, often to countries with little or no welfare protections.

• Overbreeding creates far more dogs than the industry can or will care for.

• Many greyhounds spend their lives confined in small, dirty kennels.

• Walking machines are often used instead of proper turnout, meaning dogs spend very little time outside.

• When greyhounds finally reach rescues, many arrive covered in fleas and ticks, heavily worm burdened, and often needing extensive dental work.

Greyhounds should live 12–13 years, yet many racing dogs are dead before their 3rd birthday.

Since 2001, the Irish government has guaranteed annual funding for this industry. In that time over €300 million in public money has been given to greyhound racing.

How do you feel about your taxes funding this?

How do you feel knowing thousands of dogs live lives of confinement, exploitation and often an early death?

We are asking people to stand with us for just an hour and a half to show that WE the public will no longer accept this cruelty.

💔💔💔 NOT A SINGLE SECURE FOSTER OFFER… 💔💔💔

We are absolutely heartbroken writing this…

Lady & Laddie – our beautiful 10+ year old collie pair – still have nowhere to go.

These two gentle souls have done nothing wrong, yet by the end of today they will have to return to kennels if we cannot find them a foster home 💔💔

They don’t need much…
Just a warm bed, a quiet home, and someone kind enough to let them spend this chapter of their lives feeling safe and loved.

They are the sweetest older couple, happy to just potter around together, taking comfort in each other. After everything they’ve been through, kennels is the last place they should be 💔

🙏🏻 Please… where are our collie lovers?
🙏🏻 Where is the home that can give these two a chance?

Even a temporary foster would save them from going back.

Time is running out for Lady & Laddie…
