Only order what you need

• Before you order your repeat prescription please check how much medicine you
have left at home.

• If you still have some of your medicines, only order those you need more of. You
can re-order the others next time.

• Only ordering what you need:

o is safer for you, as medicines can go out of date if kept for too long.

o helps prevent medicine shortages, making medicines available for
everyone.

o helps reduce waste and is better for the environment. If you do have any
unused medicines at home, you can return them to your local pharmacy
for safe disposal.

• Not using some of your medicines? Speak to your GP practice about a
medication review; they can help make sure your prescription is right for you.

• Check your prescription bag before you leave the pharmacy in case it contains
medicines you don’t need. Returning these medicines means they can be used
by another patient.

• Only order what you need to cut waste, prevent shortages, and keep medicines
available for everyone.

We are writing in regards to the recent meningitis outbreak in the Kent area and to provide clear guidance on what actions to take. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/cases-of-invasive-meningococcal-disease-confirmed-in-kent

If you have been in contact with someone who has a confirmed case of meningitis but are not currently experiencing any symptoms, please contact Meningitis Now as soon as possible for further advice 0808 80 10 388. https://www.meningitisnow.org/

For vaccine support, please contact Meningitis Now's nurse-led helpline: 0808 80 10 388 or Sutton's School Nursing Team: 020 8770 5409. We cannot vaccinate outside of the set immunisations schedule. We do not routinely offer the MenACWY vaccine.

If you are at university, please call the Sutton School Nursing Team, as they are the team who would've administered the MenACWY vaccine at school.

If you are experiencing symptoms of meningitis - such as a high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness, sensitivity to light, nausea, vomiting, or a rash-please go to A&E immediately. Meningitis can progress rapidly and requires urgent medical attention.

If you have any concerns or are unsure what to do, please seek medical advice without delay. https://ukhsa.blog.gov.uk/2025/10/31/what-is-meningitis-symptoms-risks-and-how-to-protect-yourself/

Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our community safe. We will update you if we receive any updates from Public Health England.
