This is my list of what is important
This has got me through my dalliance with Cancer
Honing my skills of wellbeing from inside out

maybe it could help you too

It sometimes hits me deeply that people wouldn't know.

I uploaded a profile picture a few weeks ago, taken in 2021 - many thought it was a recent photo with comments such as ' you're looking well'

Were the tumours growing then? Or was it the style of life through grief, caring for a parent or many years of longing for a life that didn't seem to 'fall into place'.

Since February 2023, my wake up call of experiencing ill health, navigating my recovery and nurturing a deeper sense of purpose as a practitioner, i've found 7 aspects which helped me to be as well as i now am.

Are you ready to explore yours? It would be an honour to help you find out with Holistic Coaching

A little ditty about finding different ways of enchancing your wellbeing

Try it by all means

Love it
Leave it
Come away whole
Let no practice harm your soul

Is it good
Is it bad
Surely it’s the balance in between
Not whether you’re happy or sad

And one persons favourite
Doesn’t make that the only way
It’s about the exploration
Approach it as play

Take a breathe
Count if you may
Whichever suits you best
To have a good day

A time to truly let go of the not knowing.
To sit with the concept of not being here in this living form.
None of us know 'when' that will be and there is joy in being resolved to not knowing, to embrace what’s to come with grace in all the uncertainty

I hope that you can too

Ok, so hear me out. Have you heard of the GROW model? Have you been working with it as I have? Since 2006 when i qualified it served a purpose, gave a framework and here's the recap...

'Goal, Reality, Options, and Will
These structured components work together to create a systematic method for setting goals and solving problems. The four elements of the GROW model are: Goal, Reality, Options, and Will. During the Goal phase, people determine their desired outcomes...'

which to me sounds a little too hustle culture now.

it's been extended. many now are using the GROWTH model - TACTICS and HABITS - again seeming to be hardening.

If you're looking for a softer approach, more empathetic and encouraging you may like what a recent client said of her latest session

"I found it really energising and supportive. I liked having the GROWTH model as a structure – it made things clear and gave a repeatable framework, which felt more helpful than just talking things through. Your empathy came across really well, and the gentle guidance on focusing on the key areas, especially “how will I know,” was really useful.
The biggest insight for me personally was with the affirmations – saying “I matter” literally gave me a physical reaction, but I’ve been repeating it in tricky moments which I think is helping me slowly start to recognise it as true.
Think you’d be great for people like me who have ideas and feel that calling, but need clarity and particularly a bit more confidence in themselves to move forward. Really helpful and inspiring session – I can see it being valuable for others too"

I met a woman yesterday who went from having a full clinic list of clients to not telling them she had brain surgery to remove a tumour. She didn’t tell them. It was 2020, other things were more important she said

She said, “it wouldn’t be professional of me to tell them”. And it’s stuck with me.

Over the years I’ve celebrated my profession, honoured my abilities in being professional and being personable with colleagues and clients. The clinical team during my treatments didn't share personal details unless it felt relevant to holding the space for me, and if we don’t blur the edges, smudge the lines of definition, we re just a patient, another numbered person next on the list.

Being able to be strong for and vulnerable with ourselves and those we are with is a model for support i like to share.

What I feel I need

Stoat boots
On solid ground
Earth holding me close

To stretch
My sinews
And lengthen my stride

To feel the chill of cooler air
And breathe easy
Easier that before
before all this
to feel like me again
