‼️Rules for purchasing professional rodenticides changed on 1st January 2026 ‼️

Are you looking to purchase professional rodenticides? To become or remain compliant with the new rules, you will need either:

Proof of certification from a CRRU UK approved training course (within the past 5 years),

OR

Proof of certification from a CRRU UK approved training course over 5 years ago, plus current membership of a CRRU UK approved Continuous Professional Development (CPD) scheme.

Tarff Services is offering an exciting chance to earn while you learn on a local farm in the DG11 area.

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable, and ready to get hands-on with a variety of farm tasks, including:
• Calving
• Lambing
• Bedding
• Feeding
• General farm work

📅 Hours: 35–40 hours per week
🚗 Driving: Desirable due to the rural location

It’s International Women’s Day 🌍 ⭐️

On Wednesday 4th March, Tarff Services Administrator, Emma Glendinning, Commercial Trainee, Lauren Burgess and Communications & Marketing Manager, Katie McCubbin attended the launch of the Scottish Women in Dairy network at the Easterbrook Hall, Dumfries🥛 🐄

It was great to see so many likeminded individuals in one room, discussing the journey forward for the network and the importance of building a strong, supportive community within the dairy sector.

With the event taking place in the run up to International Women’s Day, it felt particularly fitting to celebrate and recognise the contribution of women across agriculture. It was a timely reminder of the value of creating spaces that encourage connection, collaboration and progression.

Tarff Services was pleased to support the event and be part of a positive step forward for the industry. Keep your eyes peeled for lots of exciting things to come! 👀

Tarff Services is absolutely delighted to share that Reuben Salomons was named Runner-Up for Agriculture Learner of the Year at the Lantra Scotland ALBAS Awards last night 👏

Reuben is a hardworking and dedicated individual who shows real passion and enthusiasm for the agricultural sector. Through determination and commitment, he has worked his way up through Tarff Services’ educational pathways, developing his skills and knowledge while gaining valuable hands on experience.

Reuben’s employers, Alan and Fiona Trainer, describe him as “a steady, conscientious young person with strong stockmanship and a clear ambition to succeed in the dairy industry.”

We could not be prouder to see Reuben’s hard work pay off! What a way to finish off Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2026! 💫

A huge well done to Kayden Patterson, who has been recognised by Lantra as Pre-Apprenticeship Highly Commended for her outstanding commitment to training and development. 🌟

Kayden joined Tarff Services in December 2024 on our Pre-Apprenticeship Programme, stepping into agriculture with determination and a clear ambition to build a future in the industry.

In July 2025, she progressed onto our Modern Apprenticeship, continuing to build the skills, confidence and technical ability that led to this achievement.

Being Highly Commended at a national level is a fantastic achievement and a well-deserved reflection of her commitment to the industry.

We’re proud to play a part in supporting the next generation.

We’re proud to recognise the apprentices developing their careers within Tarff Valley 🌱

Kelsie is completing her Diploma in Customer Service, Reann is working towards her SCQF Level 5 in Customer Service, and Rachel is undertaking her SCQF Level 5 in Warehousing 📦

Each of them is building confidence, developing practical skills and gaining real, hands-on experience across the business.

Last week, we celebrated our Tarff Services students graduating from their SCQF Level 6 Modern Apprenticeship in Agriculture 🎓

Our outgoing CEO, Rod Sanderson, was there to present certificates and recognise a fantastic achievement.

This programme has helped lay the foundations for real careers in the agricultural industry, and we couldn’t be prouder of what these young people have accomplished 🌾

Congratulations to Robbie Ferries, who has successfully completed the Pre-Apprenticeship Programme 🎉

During the programme, Robbie has completed various short training courses and is now progressing onto a Modern Apprenticeship in Agriculture at SCQF 5!

🎓 Today was a proud moment as our first cohort of SCQF Level 6 Modern Apprentices in Agriculture graduated from the programme through Tarff Services. It has been fantastic to see their skills, confidence and knowledge develop over the course of the programme.

Outgoing CEO, Rod Sanderson highlighted the importance of encouraging more young people into agriculture and thanked the mentors who supported them throughout their journey, reaffirming Tarff’s commitment to investing in the next generation.

About Tarff ‘Services’

Tarff recently took over the activities of the South West Machinery Ring (SWMR) which has now been rebranded Tarff ‘Services’. Existing members of the SWMR have been automatically enrolled in Tarff ‘Services’, which members of Tarff Valley Ltd are also entitled to make use of and benefit from.

What can Tarff ‘Services’ offer you? Tarff is now offering a number of short courses which are organised on farms in your local area. Since the launch of Tarff ‘Services’ in November, the courses which have been held include hoof trimming, telehandler operation, ATV training and first aid. These have all been very well received with excellent feedback. As of Monday 3rd February, Tarff ‘Services’ became a recognised LANTRA approved training centre.

What does this mean? Tarff can now offer its customers industry leading training courses with the support of skilled instructors and assessors. LANTRA is one of the UK’s leading awarding bodies and Tarff is delighted to have LANTRA accreditation backing its service.
