Earn while you learn with Tarff Services!

We are recruiting for a 𝐅𝐮𝐥𝐥-𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞, ideal for someone aged 16–25 who is keen to build a career in agriculture and outdoor rural skills.

Training will include:
• Tractor
• First Aid
• ATV

You’ll also gain hands-on experience in:
• Feeding
• Bedding
• Calf Rearing
• Milking

If you’re motivated, enjoy working outdoors, and want to develop practical skills while earning, we’d love to hear from you!

📣 Services Coordinator Tracey McEwan and Training and Learning Coordinator Adam Wardrop are attending ‘Meat’ Your Future today at The Bridge, Dumfries!

The event, run by Quality Meat Scotland (QMS), DYW D&G, and supported by RHET Dumfries & Galloway Countryside Initiative, gives S1–S3 pupils a hands-on look at the red meat sector, from farm to fork, and the careers it offers. 🐄🌱

This week is Mind Your Head, led by the Farm Safety Foundation.

We’re supporting the campaign to help encourage open conversation around mental health in farming and to remind our rural community that support is available.

Tarff Services is running a Rodent Management Training course on Friday 13th March at Dumfries House from 9am - 5pm. This course provides the proof of competence required to purchase professional rodenticides 🐀

‼️Rules for purchasing professional rodenticides changed on 1st January 2026 ‼️

Are you looking to purchase professional rodenticides? To become or remain compliant with the new rules, you will need either:

Proof of certification from a CRRU UK approved training course (within the past 5 years),

OR

Proof of certification from a CRRU UK approved training course over 5 years ago, plus current membership of a CRRU UK approved Continuous Professional Development (CPD) scheme.

A huge well done to Billy McCulloch, who has successfully completed his Pre-Apprenticeship!

During his Pre-Apprenticeship, Billy has gained certification in First Aid, Health & Safety, Tractor Driving, and ATV. He has now signed up to complete a Modern Apprenticeship in Agriculture at SCQF 5.

We are pleased to share that our student, Reuben Salomons, is a finalist at the Lantra Scotland ALBAS Awards for his Modern Apprenticeship in Agriculture! 👏

Reuben has previously completed his Pre-Apprenticeship with us at Byretown Farm before moving on to employment and his SVQ at the same farm! It has been inspiring to watch his skills, confidence, and passion for the industry grow.

A huge well done, Reuben, we’re all rooting for you! 🥳

A huge well done to Devin Reid, who has successfully completed his Pre-Apprenticeship!

We first met Devin through Castle Douglas High School, where he completed the NPA in Agriculture. Now that Devin has completed the Pre-Apprenticeship Programme, he has signed up for a Modern Apprenticeship in Agriculture!
