All set for the tractor run tommorrow Saturday 25th April

Route for the Porter Trailers / Derg Valley Vintage Club tractor run this Saturday 25th April 2026. Some pictures of the scenery on the route.
All the details are on the attached leaflet and the weather forecast is looking good.

Money raised form this tractor run will be donated to Young Lives VS Cancer at the request of the Russell family from Ardstraw a charity that has and is being a great help to them in providing accommodation near hospitals and support as 17 year old Aaron is being treated for Leukemia, we wish them all the best for the future.

Some goods have been donated for the auction at 11am and if anyone wants to donate please get in touch.

Anyone can come to view the tractors before they leave at 11.30 on Saturday morning or watch them along the way.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday.

5 weeks to the Porter Trailers/ Derg Valley Vintage Club tractor run on the 25th April 2026
Starting and finishing at Porter Trailers, 25 Drumquin Road, Castlederg, Co Tyrone, BT81 7PX
Donations this year will be for Young Lives VS Cancer, a charity that are helping the Russell family from Ardstraw in providing accommodation and support while Aaron is receiving treatment for Leukaemia.

registration from 10am, Auction of donated goods 11am, run leaving 11.30.
approx 13 miles of scenic countryside around Castlederg with a stop half way with hot food on return.
Vintage , classic and modern tractors but vintage tractors will be setting the pace.

Following the deaths of our father James Porter on 5th January 26 and mother Elizabeth Porter on 28 September 25, we would like to thank everyone for your words and messages of sympathy and all who attended the wakes and funerals, and all who helped in so many ways, it was much appreciated.
Also many thanks to the doctors in Drumquin Surgery, the district nurses, Bradleys Chemist, Castlederg, and the carers, all who looked after them so well in their latter years of life.

A few people of a certain age have said to us about rembering dad digging and baling hay, as a boy growing up I spent many happy days with him around the Fordson Major and Webb back actor, it was sold around 1985 and I got it back in 2009 although still havent got it restored.
He used mainly David Brown tractors and had 2 red 990 Implematic and a white 990 Selectamatic with a Sta Dri cab (I can hear the noise of it yet and likely contributed to his deafness in later life) One of the red 990s was replaced with a Q cab 885 in 1985, the other red 990 (WBF 347) sold locally in 1989, it was got back from Eddie and Eamonn Sweeney in 2005 and restored, photos attached.
The blue Jones super star baler was replaced with a Jones MK 12T in 1977 but a few years ago I got an identical blue Jones baler that worked in this area, photos attached 44 years apart.
