Very proud to see Chiropractors forming part of the integrated healthcare team supporting athletes at the Commonwealth Games this year! 😁πŸ’ͺπŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈβ›ΉοΈπŸŠβ€β™€οΈ

Great article discussing what this means for athletes, healthcare professionals and Chiropractors. Also a nice little reminder of how Chiropractors help optimise sports performance, prevent injuries and aid in recovery below πŸ‘‡.

BCA President, Catherine Quinn and Kathryn Deverson, Chiropractor and part of the newly formed Chiropractor, Osteopath, Physiotherapist and Sports Massage (COPS) team at Birmingham 2022 discuss what this significant step means for chiropractors, athletes, and the wider healthcare industry.

TIPS TO STAY WELL IN THE UK HEATWAVE!!β˜€οΈπŸ”₯🌞

-Stay hydrated and drink plenty of waterπŸ’§πŸ’§. Your body needs water to keep cool! People who have epilepsy, heart, kidney or liver disease, who are on fluid-restrictive diets or have fluid retention should consult a doctor before increasing their consumption of fluids

-Limit alcoholic and caffeinated beverages πŸΉβ˜•οΈπŸ»

-Avoid strenuous activity β›ΉοΈβ€β™€οΈπŸ€Ύβ€β™€οΈ in the hottest part of the day or if you have a co-existing health condition. Slow down!! 🐌🐌 When the body heats πŸ”₯ too quickly to cool itself safely, or when you lose too much fluid or salt through dehydration or sweating, your body temperature rises and heat-related illness may develop. Heat disorders share one common feature: the individual has been in the heat too long or exercised too much for his or her age and physical condition. If you are exercising in this heat remember to replenish your fluids and salts. πŸ’§πŸ’§πŸ§‚

-Seek out cooler and shaded areas 🌳 This is particularly important for children, the elderly and those with health conditions.

-Avoid too much sun. β˜€οΈ Seek out the shade and avoid sunburn which is not only bad for you but reduces the ability for the body to loose heat!

-Dress sensibly. Wear lightweight, light coloured, loose clothing.
