😴 Unconscious But Still Breathing — What Should You Do? 🚑
Finding someone unresponsive can be scary — but knowing what to do next can save their life.

At Platinum Medical, we teach you the simple, lifesaving steps to handle emergencies like this with confidence.

⚠️ What You Might See:
• The person is not responding to you
• Their chest is rising and falling (they’re still breathing)
• Their muscles are limp or relaxed

💡 What To Do – Step by Step:
1. ✅ Check for danger – make sure the area is safe for you and the casualty.
2. 👋 Check for a response – gently shake their shoulders and ask, “Are you okay?”
3. 💨 Check breathing – look, listen, and feel for normal breathing.
4. ❤️ If breathing normally but unresponsive:
👉 Place them in the recovery position.
👉 Tilt their head slightly back to keep the airway open.
👉 Monitor their breathing and stay with them until help arrives.
5. 📞 Call 999 for an ambulance.

💬 Why it matters:
Someone who is unconscious but breathing can still lose their airway — especially if lying on their back. The recovery position keeps their airway clear and helps prevent choking or suffocation.

🚨 Would You Know What to Do if Someone Started Choking? 🚑
When every second counts, your quick actions could save a life. At Platinum Medical, we teach you the vital first aid skills to respond confidently in emergencies like choking.

😨 Choking Happens Fast — and it can happen to anyone. Whether it’s food, small objects, or even medication, knowing what to look for is key.

⚠️ Signs of Choking:
• Difficulty breathing, talking, or coughing
• Noisy or wheezy breathing
• Clutching the throat (the universal choking sign)
• Bluish lips or face
• Little or no air movement — silent struggle
• Loss of consciousness if not relieved quickly

💪 First Aid for Choking (Adults & Children):
1. Encourage the person to cough if they can still breathe or talk.
2. If coughing doesn’t work and they can’t breathe:
👉 Give up to 5 sharp back blows between the shoulder blades with the heel of your hand.
3. If the obstruction isn’t cleared:
👉 Give up to 5 abdominal thrusts.
4. Alternate 5 back blows and 5 abdominal thrusts until the object is cleared or the person becomes unresponsive.
5. If unresponsive and not breathing normally – start CPR and call 999 immediately.

👶 For infants (under 1 year):
Lay the baby face down on your forearm, support their head, and use gentle but firm back blows and chest thrusts.
