On this morning’s walk through the woods, I spent a lot of time sat on a bench just watching the world around me. As I sat still, the trees came alive. With no noise or movement, nature revealed its hidden rhythm — leaves rustling, birds stirring, life unfolding. Creatures that had been hidden away whilst there was noise and activity below came into view.
Then a jogger passed, and the spell shifted. We shared a ‘good morning’ and the world resumed its busy hum. But that inner stillness remained — always there, always available to return to.
Our minds, like the trees, are rarely quiet. Thoughts, worries, and noise often rush in but, when we pause, breathe, and sit in stillness, space opens. In that space, clarity, peace, and presence awaken.
This is the gift of mindfulness, being present in the moment, a reminder that the calm you seek is not out there but always within.
