๐ Young Carers Action Day โ 11 March ๐
Young carers are children and young people (usually under 18) who help care for a family member or loved one who is ill, disabled, living with a mental health condition or affected by substance misuse.
They often take on responsibilities usually done by adults โ from practical tasks to emotional support and managing household routines. While many show incredible strength and resilience, caring at a young age can affect education, social life, health and wellbeing.
Today is about:
โจ Raising awareness of the challenges young carers face
โจ Recognising and valuing their contribution
โจ Encouraging schools, services and communities to support them
โจ Highlighting the need for tailored support and breaks
If youโre a young carer โ or know one โ youโre not alone.
Speak to your GP, school nurse or local young carer service. Support is available to help ensure caring responsibilities do not negatively impact health, education or wellbeing.
