💊 Get the right help, at the right place

Many minor illnesses like coughs, colds, headaches, heartburn and indigestion can be treated with over-the-counter medicines from your local pharmacy — no GP appointment needed.

Your community pharmacist can advise on symptoms, how long they usually last, and the best treatment options. Keeping a small supply of everyday medicines at home can also help you treat symptoms quickly.

Medication reviews are just as important. They help make sure your medicines are working safely and effectively, and give you the chance to ask questions or discuss any side effects.

📍 Visit a community pharmacy first
📞 Contact the surgery if you’re due a medication review

📢 Important Update on Prostate Cancer Screening – Have Your Say!

The UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC) has opened a public consultation on draft recommendations for prostate cancer screening.

🧠 Key points in the proposal:
• A targeted screening programme every 2 years for men aged 45–61 with confirmed BRCA1/BRCA2 gene variants.
• No recommendation at present for whole-population screening.
• No current recommendation for targeted screening based on family history or ethnicity (e.g., Black men), though research continues.
• The committee will work with the TRANSFORM trial team and await better tests than PSA to improve screening.

📅 Consultation deadline: 11.59pm GMT, Friday 20 February 2026 – everyone’s feedback matters.

If you’re concerned about prostate cancer risk, family history, or symptoms, please speak with one of our GPs for personalised advice.

Parent Mental Health Day

Because parents need care too.

Parent Mental Health Day shines a light on the emotional wellbeing of parents and carers — reminding us that looking after others starts with looking after ourselves.

How you can support parents
💛 Check in and listen
💛 Offer practical help (meals, childcare, errands)
💛 Be kind — not everyone is coping as well as they seem
💛 Encourage parents to talk to their GP if they’re struggling

How children can help
🌱 Say thank you
🌱 Help with small tasks at home
🌱 Be patient and understanding
🌱 Let parents know they’re appreciated

Support starts with a conversation.

🧠 Have your say on the future of AI in UK healthcare!

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has launched a Call for Evidence to help shape how artificial intelligence (AI) is regulated in healthcare across the UK. This is a major step toward ensuring AI tech — from smart diagnostic tools to safer medical devices — works safely, effectively and fairly for patients and clinicians alike.

💡 Why it matters:
✨ AI has huge potential to transform healthcare — making care more personalised, faster and more efficient.
💬 But to do this safely, we need better rules that protect patients and boost innovation.
📣 This is your chance to help shape those rules — patients, clinicians, health tech companies, charities, and members of the public are all invited to share their views.

What is dementia?

Dementia is a condition that affects memory, thinking, and everyday activities. It’s not a normal part of ageing — and everyone’s experience is different.

How can you support someone with dementia?
💙 Be patient and kind
💙 Listen without correcting
💙 Offer reassurance and understanding
💙 Encourage routines and familiar activities

Small acts of compassion can make a big difference.

Worried about memory changes — yours or someone else’s?
Speaking to a GP is the first step. Memory problems can have many causes, and an early diagnosis can help people access the right support and plan for the future.

You’re not wasting anyone’s time — and you don’t have to face this alone.
📞 Contact your GP practice to book an appointment.
