We've been getting in the Christmas spirit this morning making some fantastic Christmas cards whilst we watched a Christmas carol and reminisced about all our favourite Christmas memories!

We made some lovely Christmas puddings today using card, paper, colouring pencils and a selection of beads for the berries! πŸŽ¨πŸ–Œ

Malcolm especially enjoyed placing the beads, fascinated by the way they glistened in the light. Christina loved using the colouring pencils, adding beautiful details like leaf veins along with tiny currants and berries.

A wonderful bit of festive creativity! πŸŽ„πŸ’›

We had a lovely pamper morning today at Victory! πŸ’…πŸ»

Residents who wished to join in enjoyed having their nails cut, trimmed, cleaned and painted β€” with plenty of colours to choose from. Red was definitely the favourite as we get ready for Christmas, and everyone appreciated leaving with fresh nails for the festive season πŸŽ„πŸŽ€.

Story writing workshop!

Today was our final session of the story writing workshop with the very talented Emma and Bernadette!

We enjoyed some scrumptious cakes they kindly brought for everyone and started our session.

We told stories of our pasts and talked about our favourite places, our strange hobbies and talents and where we would go if we could fly off with the wind to travel the world!

We also finished our final voice recordings as we are going to actually be a part of the audio books we have helped to write!

What a fantastic, insightful and creative few sessions we have had with Bernadette and Emma and we can't wait to see the final stories come to life!

A big congratulations to our horse race game winners!

We were off to the races over the weekend with our horse racing game! We have 4 horses decorated and named by the residents, Ruby, Rocko, Purple Rain and Scarlett. 4 players roll the dice to move the horses around out makeshift track and everyone votes for who they think might win!

This weekend our two lucky winners were Ena with the Horse Ruby. Ena was very lucky with her dice rolling and stayed in the lead throughout the race

However keith and his horse Scarlett took us all by surprise going from 4th place to 1st at the very last second!

We had a great laugh cheering for our horses and commentating on the race!

On Saturday, we were up and moving to some lovely tunes during our weekly Right Step session! πŸ’ƒπŸ•Ί It’s a favourite across the home with both staff and residents. We all enjoy a little dance, a singalong, and moving to the best of our abilities to some of our favourite songs. Such a fun and uplifting way to start the weekend! 🎢✨

Yesterday was week two of our story writing workshop where we are helping to write different audible stories that will take you on a journey around the local area.

The second session was full of folk lore and mystery. We spoke about the history of Luton and read some very soothing poetry!

We can't wait for the stories to be completed!

This week we made our very own Christmas gingerbread houses from cardboard and white pens, we plan to use them as our very own personalised decorations this Christmas to go over doorways and windows so that the residents can see their own art as they walk around the home.

These are some of the wonderful examples of houses that were made this week and there are still plenty more to make to keep our hands busy and our minds occupied! Well done to everyone so far for the beautiful designs that have been made and ready to be displayed! πŸ˜πŸŽ„

Today we played a lot of boardgames that quite a few of the residents at Victory said they hadn't played in years such as Snakes and Ladders and Scrabble which is a few of the residents favourite boardgame.

We also had a little visitor 🐿 outside one of the windows who decided to come and eat and watch our Scrabble game play out!

Our Scrabble game was only 4 points difference between the winner and second place and one of the residents managed to get through Snakes and Ladders without touching a single snake which was pretty impressive! We had lots of fun reminiscing on the times that we used to play and the memories we had playing board games and overall it was lovely getting to talk to everyone in smaller groups and hearing their stories as the games went on 🎲🐍

We had a wonderful quiz morning today at Victory focusing on winter themes, birds and animals! Everyone joined in and gave their best guesses in for each question and we even learnt quite a lot of new facts such as Bowhead Whales can live for over 200 years and that hippopotamus have a bite force between 1,800 - 2,000 pounds per square inch which can break bones, boats and even split a crocodile in half which everyone was shocked to learn!

Everyone was keen to learn more when they didn't know what the answers were and we also looked at some animals that a few of the residents hadn't heard of before such as axolotls, platypus and capybaras. Overall, everyone including staff really enjoyed this and got very involved!
