“Lets get Control and Change.”

About Me:
After many years of struggling with my own weight, nutrition and related symptoms, I began a journey that led me to lose three stone as well as the related health issues. I had so much more energy and had discovered a lot about nutrition. Friends and family started to ask how I had done it and could I help them? I then decided to train and qualify as a Nutritional Therapist. A few months after this, I was faced with a particularly stressful period at work and home. I was introduced to the Control System and attended a Control workshop. Coming away after one day, totally relaxed and in control, I made a decision. I went on to study and qualify as a Control Practitioner and Remedial Hypnotist! During and shortly after this time, I had began to change peoples lives and help them feel in control, balanced and happy again. Taking away stress, fear of heights, anxiety, stopping people from smoking, losing weight and many more. Finally a great opportunity arose. My holistic approach to client care and local knowledge was partnered with an offer to work with, and at, the Lordswood Osteopathic Clinic. Control and Change was born. The clinic is conveniently located at the Lordswood Leisure Centre in Chatham, in the heart of the medway towns and close to the M2 junction 3. Easy links from Gillingham, Sittingbourne, Gravesend and Canterbury and a short hop from Junction 6 of the M20 and Blue Bell Hill from Maidstone, Ashford and surrounding areas. The centre is situated in a quiet country setting overlooking 20 acres of playing fields, with free parking for over 100 cars and disabled access. Regular local buses (166, 167 & 701) stop around half a mile from the Centre.

Does your anxiety stop you from getting help for your anxiety?

Stress and anxiety don’t just affect your thoughts. They can disturb your sleep, affect your digestion, lower your immune system, and impact your relationships and confidence.

…..You’re not broken. You’re overwhelmed…. You’re burnt out….
and that can be changed.

As an award-winning hypnotherapist and mind coach, I see how stress and anxiety affects people in different ways.

I also see people recover, shift and change.

Whether you’re a busy parent, a high-achiever feeling stretched too thin, or simply someone who can’t remember the last time they felt truly calm, I’m here to support you.

Message me to take that first step together.

When working with the mind I sometimes encounter one last barrier to completing the task….Change Is Scary! The mind can find it a little scary and hold back for a moment. To resolve this I always say the same thing….Change IS Scary, but never changing is terrifying.

This is the same with new clients when beginning to reach out for help and support. I gently remind them that a comfort zone keeps us safe, secure and … comfortable. Therefore by definition, out of that is….uncomfortable.

One thing is for sure though…..we have been there before. When we changed jobs, took a driving test, rode a bike, the first filing or tooth out. When it passed we had new experiences, new strength and new knowledge. The comfort zone had expanded and change was made.

If your zone is in need of expanding, give me a call and we will prove that change can also be exciting.

Every anxiety challenge you have faced has eventually reached a stage where you are now telling others how you overcame it.

Every one of your stories in some way has had some degree of workable ending...because you are still here!!

This doesn’t mean everything will work out for the best...we all have examples of when things haven’t worked out the way we wanted...but everything worked out in some way.

You might not know how to solve the next one, but you know you most likely will. Then you will be telling people about that solution and how you once again achieved some kind of an ending to this story.

If you are not at the end and it is not ok, give me a call and we will tell the ending of this story together!

Small “micro-joys” matter more than you think.

We often overlook the small, quiet or funny moments in our day, a cup of tea, a laugh, a bit of calm or a little win.

But those moments do something important.

They signal to your nervous system that things are happy and safe.

When that happens, anxiety has less to hold onto.

This isn’t about forcing positivity. It’s about noticing what’s already there.

👉 Today, see if you can spot 2–3 small moments that feel just a little easier and happier.

That’s enough to start with.

The Anxiety–Insomnia Cycle (and how to break It)

What came first… anxiety or insomnia?

Sadly, it’s usually both.

There’s a strong two-way relationship between anxiety and sleep.
Anxiety, fear and worry make it harder to sleep.
Lack of sleep then raises anxiety levels even further.

Studies show 70–80% of people with anxiety disorders such as GAD or PTSD also experience insomnia.

Insomnia can lead to anxiety about not sleeping, even a fear of the bed or bedroom, while daytime worry turns into night-time rumination.

The good news?

When you improve sleep, anxiety often reduces.
When you treat anxiety, sleep improves.

Break the cycle and both begin to settle.

Three simple ways to start:

Consistent Sleep Schedule
Go to bed and wake up at the same time each day.

Relaxation Techniques
Use calming activities before bed to signal the mind it’s safe to switch off.

Professional Help
Therapy for insomnia can effectively treat both sleep and anxiety together.

Which tends to come first for you, anxiety or sleepless nights?

The Worst Thing you can do for Anxiety....

Trying to fight the fire with a can of petrol 😳

Ever told a child, “Chocolate in a minute,” then delayed it?
They remind you… louder each time.

Your mind does the same when you ignore or distract it.
It wants your attention and it will get it.

When you keep pushing anxiety away, it pushes back harder.
Soon you’re anxious about being anxious.

Instead, try this:
“Stop. What do you want?”
Pause. Listen.

When that part of your mind feels heard, something shifts.
The noise reduces.

Your mind isn’t ruining your day.
It’s trying to protect you.

Next time it gets loud, bring chocolate, not petrol.

👉 Comment “Chocolate” if you’re ready to listen.
👉 Comment “Petrol” if you’ve been fighting it.

I think Keanu Reeves said it best:
"Pain changes shape, but it never disappears. You can’t control what hurts or breaks you, but you can control how you choose to move forward.

Fight for what you love, because no one else will do it for you. Every moment in your life is an opportunity to change who you are.

Don’t define yourself by what you lost, but by what you do with what’s left."

“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending”.

Drop a message and let's start moving forwards without constantly looking back.

Why is my anxiety so bad and why is it so loud?

Have you ever said to your kids or grandkids chocolates coming in a minute?

What happens after two or three minutes? What happens after five? Can you even make it to 10?

Of course they get louder more insistent….then your frisbee out some chocolate buttons….Silence. 😊

That’s what your mind is trying to do as well.
It’s trying to be heard but you don’t want to listen, or want to hide, so it’s going to get louder.

Increasing anxiety or panic is its way to get you to stop and listen.

How would it feel, and what would it look like, if this could be done at a whisper?

You’re not weak, you’re not broken. You just can’t hear the message because of the noise.

DM “yes” for a video to help turn the volume down.
