It was a pleasure to welcome Tom Morrison MP for Cheadle to The Alexandra Hospital last week. First elected in July 2024, Tom visited the hospital to meet Chief Executive Officer Paul Manning and Chief Operating Officer Owen James.

The visit included a tour of the hospital, led by Director of Clinical Services, Helen Vyas where Tom had the opportunity to see and meet staff and to learn more about our work across Greater Manchester.

Alongside the tour, Tom met with the hospital’s senior management team to discuss health across the constituency and the hospital’s involvement in community causes.

Our thanks to Tom and his team for taking the time to visit and see first-hand the difference we make to the lives of thousands of patients each year.

We are incredibly proud to share that Mr Goswamy is now the first surgeon in the UK to be accredited by the Intercollegiate Cosmetic Surgery Board of the Royal College of Surgeons to perform cosmetic ear surgery exclusively in patients under 18.

Last week our team used the Coroventis system for the very first time, marking an incredible step forward for diagnosing Cardiac Syndrome X (microvascular angina).

We would like to extend a huge thank you to Dr Keshavarzi and our Cath Lab team for leading the way!

Why this matters:
• This is the first system of its kind to diagnose microvascular angina
• Measures blood flow (CFR) and resistance (IMR) in the heart’s microcirculation
• Helps identify microvascular dysfunction even when coronary arteries look normal

This technology will support patients experiencing chest pain, angina, fatigue, or shortness of breath, giving clearer answers and better pathways to treatment- and we are the only private centre in the Northwest to have it!
