**in store recycling**

We are pleased to say that we are now again able to recycle old and unwanted spectacles, sunglasses, swimming goggles and safety glasses. After the scheme with Vision Aid Overseas permanently closed as a result of the coronavirus crisis, we have been looking for another scheme that we could join. After much research, we came across RecycLine. Now along with our contact lens recycling box which has been in store for a number of years, we are able to recycle and repurpose a significant amount of plastic waste which would otherwise have ended up in landfill.

An update from us following the removal of domestic Covid-19 restrictions in England:

We will continue to run a locked door, appointment only system for the foreseeable future. This has a number of benefits and allows us to better control the number of people in practice at any one time. We will continue to clean and sanitise equipment, furniture and spectacle frames after each patient who visits us.

We would appreciate if you would continue to wear a face covering unless exempt, particularly during the sight test where you are in closer proximity with us.

If you have any Covid related symptoms, we ask you to please not attend your appointment and ring us instead for advice.

We would again like to thank all of our patients and customers for their support and kind words during these times. We hope that you can appreciate that we are still trying hard to make people feel safe in store by keeping a few of our infection control policies in place.

**Product Recall**

We have been advised of a voluntary recall by contact lens solutions manufacturer, CooperVision, of Hy-Care® multipurpose contact lens solution (60ml, 100ml, 250ml bottles).

The manufacturer's quality testing determined that the product may not offer appropriate levels of disinfection in some circumstances against high levels of a particular yeast organism. Although no complaints have been received and there have been no confirmed incidents attributed to inadequate disinfection, this action is out of an abundance of caution.

The manufacturer will shortly be setting up a website where users of the product can go for information on what to do and how to be reimbursed.

It is important you continue to clean and disinfect your soft contact lenses. Please cease use and discard your Hy-Care® multipurpose solution once you have secured an alternative multipurpose solution. Please retain the bottle in order to obtain your reimbursement through the recall website.

We would like to just remind people again that we are running an appointment only system in store. Please do not come to the door expecting to be seen if you have not made an appointment.

Many enquiries can be dealt with over the phone so if you need any advice, please ring us.

**Our policies in store as of next week.**

Following the ending of restrictions on Monday 19th July, here is where things will stand if you visit us for an eye test or glasses.

Due to our role being in primary healthcare, not much will change in store as of next week. We will still be distancing people, we will be limiting the number of people in store at any one time and our staff will be wearing PPE. We will still be asking our customers to take their temperature on arrival, and we request that patients still wear a face covering unless exempt.

Our priority is still keeping people safe, whether that be visitors to the store or our own staff members. Our procedures will be reviewed regularly in line with government guidelines and advice from our professional bodies.
