It’s been a deliciously busy day in the kitchen! 🍽️✨

Started the morning by baking a cinnamon chocolate loaf cake — the house still smells amazing. 😍

In between the rain showers we headed out to the garden to gather some horseradish and parsley. The horseradish is now freshly grated and soaking in apple cider vinegar, ready to become my go-to horseradish sauce (just mix with a little vegan cream or mayo — perfect with a roast! 🌱🤍)

And since the parsley decided to show off with a growth spurt, I harvested a big bunch, chopped it, and packed it into the freezer to use all year round. 🥬❄️

Feeling grateful for homegrown goodness and cozy kitchen days. 💚
What have you been cooking today? 🍴😊

Look at these enormous pears from my garden (teaspoon for size comparison). There might not be an abundant crop this year but they are all huge.

Sweet, juicy, and often underrated, pears are more than just a refreshing snack — they’re a powerhouse of nutrition. Here are some of the top reasons to add more pears to your diet:

🍐 The Health Benefits of Pears 🍐

🍐 Rich in Fiber
One medium pear provides about 6 grams of dietary fiber, which supports digestion, helps regulate blood sugar, and promotes a healthy gut.

🌡️Boosts Heart Health
The soluble fiber in pears can help reduce cholesterol levels, while their potassium content supports healthy blood pressure.

🍐Packed with Antioxidants
Pears are rich in vitamin C, copper, and phytonutrients that help fight free radicals, reducing inflammation and supporting your immune system.

📏 Supports Weight Management
Low in calories but high in fiber, pears keep you feeling full longer — making them an excellent snack for weight control.

👶 Gentle on Digestion
Naturally hypoallergenic and easy to digest, pears are often one of the first fruits introduced to babies (the pears from this tree were the first foods for my babies) and are great for people with sensitive stomachs.

🌿 Pro Tip: Eat pears with the skin on — that’s where much of the fiber and antioxidants are concentrated!

The "pear" well in sweet or savoury dishes (sorry for the pun, I couldn't help myself). You can slice them into salads, bake them for dessert, or enjoy them fresh, pears are a delicious way to nourish your body. I love them with a little plant based cheddar cheese as a snack.

What an epic weekend.

Tropic Glammies 2025 in Birmingham.

How many Managing Directors do you know who would open a conference with a song and dance wearing a green sequin suit - a-maz-ing.

Suzi Ma is truly inspirational - I say this every time I see/hear her - but WOW!! Her passion for health through skin care and the planet is just phenomenal. The charity work is just incredible.

I am so proud to be part of this amazing company.

Some days you can feel like you're winning at life.

Making the most of having to Mum Taxi to the leisure centre at ridiculous o'clock in the morning. And it actually felt great!!

40 minutes pilates
30 minute swim (50 lengths 1250 metres)
5 minutes steam room
Hot shower with Tropic products of course.
Tropic make up applied and off to work in time for a healthy breakfast before I start.
Let's home the day continues to be this productive.

My journey began when my daughter, at age seven, was diagnosed with coeliac disease. From a baby, we struggled with sleepless nights, extremely bad nappy rash and as she got older the constant complaining she felt sick. We were brushed off by doctors until, one day, I had had enough. Sat in the church watching the children of the school perform their beautiful songs, I couldn’t see my daughter. She was in the middle class but the children of the lower classes were so much bigger than her she was hidden.

Finally, after a lot of cajoling, the doctor referred us to a paediatrician. The consultant took one look at her and requested blood tests. These tests confirmed she was severely anaemic as a result of the coeliac disease. A good dose of iron over the following months and immediately eliminating gluten from her diet resulting in a different child. All of a sudden our daughter was full of energy, happy and bouncy. Since then, she has developed in leaps and bounds. She has caught up with her peers and is blossoming into a beautiful young woman. We had to have the whole family tested for coeliac disease as it is genetic - it turns out she got it from me (who’d have thought that what the doctors diagnosed as IBS was actually coeliac disease).

During my journey, a lot of friends and acquaintances ask for my advice about a gluten free and dairy free diet (me be dairy intolerant). I wanted to be able to help other people in my situation, so I studied nutrition to advanced level and became a Nutritional Therapist (part-time to fit with my school Learning Support Assistant role during the day). I then trained in kinesiology and allergy testing using this method. Following this I have also passed qualifications in reflexology, acupressure, various massage techniques, meditation teaching, aromatherapy, EFT, facials and dermaplaning.
