This Valentine’s Day, celebrate love in all its forms: self-love, friendship, family, and partnership. Music Therapy reminds us that love isn’t just something we say, it’s something we feel, hear, and experience.

Whether it’s a favorite classic by Whitney Houston or a heartfelt track by Ed Sheeran, music has the power to express what words sometimes can’t.

Love is a rhythm we all share — let music help your heart keep the beat.

Thurstable School, I’m set up and ready to speak about a career in music therapy and what it means to become a music therapist.

I’m especially looking forward to encouraging students to stay open to career paths they may not have considered yet.

Often, the most meaningful journeys are the ones you only discover because someone took the time to introduce them to you.

Grateful for the opportunity to give back and, hopefully, to inspire the next generation of creative and compassionate professionals 🎶

I’m really looking forward to returning to my former secondary school, Thurstable School, tomorrow for their Student Careers Fair.

It’s special to be going back, this time to speak about a career in music therapy and what it means to become a music therapist.

Most of all, I’m looking forward to encouraging students to stay open to careers that may not yet be on their radar.

Sometimes the most meaningful paths are the ones you don’t learn about until someone introduces them to you.

Grateful for the opportunity to give back and to hopefully inspire the next generation of creative, compassionate professionals.

P.S. I don’t want to give too much away… so here’s just a taste of what I’ve prepared 👀

Families face many challenges, but they don’t have to face them alone.

Music therapy is an evidence-based approach that supports:
- Emotional regulation
- Social interaction
- Speech and communication development
- Parent-child bonding

Through structured musical activities, children can express feelings in ways that words sometimes cannot.

Let this be the week you explore new support for your child and family.

Your heart doesn’t just beat… it responds.

Research shows that Music Therapy can help reduce stress, lower heart rate and blood pressure, and support emotional well-being, all of which are deeply connected to heart health.

From calming rhythms that help regulate breathing to meaningful songs that process emotions, music therapy supports the heart both physically and emotionally. Because caring for your heart isn’t only about diet and exercise, it’s also about how you feel, cope, and connect.

This National Heart Month, take a moment to listen, feel, and let music support your heart ❤️🎶

January is finally coming to an end after a busy month. I’m so grateful for the recent recommendations and excited to be starting some new music therapy journeys. 🙏🏾

The website has been updated, including a refreshed referral form now available to download. The Group Music Therapy page also includes details of a new group starting soon for children experiencing school masking and overwhelm. Places are still available, so please get in touch to register your interest.

We also have some exciting events coming up where we are looking forward to sharing more about the positive impact music therapy can have.

Wishing you a great rest of the week! 👌🏾🎶

Supporting a client to play an instrument in music therapy helps build engagement and interaction.

Instruments create a shared, non-verbal way to connect through turn-taking, rhythm, and response. Even simple playing encourages attention, participation, and communication, strengthening connection in a natural and enjoyable way. Music becomes a bridge to interaction. 👌🏾🎶

I’ve been thinking a lot about masking and after-school overwhelm, which I see so often in my work with children. Many hold everything together during the school day and need a safe, gentle space to decompress.

I’m exploring the idea of a pressure-free music therapy group for primary-aged children in and around Tiptree and Chelmsford. (Whichever is closer for you) A calm, child-led space to relax, express themselves, regulate emotions and enjoy music with no pressure to perform or take part in any set way. Children could come when they feel ready.

I’m hoping to start in the next month or two, with the possibility of it becoming a weekly group if there’s enough interest. I’d also be open to groups for older children if there’s demand.
If this sounds like something your child might benefit from, please comment or message me. I’d love to hear from you.

Watching clients laugh and enjoy themselves in music therapy is powerful.

Those moments of joy build connection, reduce stress, and show real therapeutic engagement. For therapists, seeing this reminds us that healing doesn’t always look serious, sometimes it sounds like laughter and shared music.

Joy is part of the work. Music makes space for it! 🎶
