When 3 became 4

Axel Kraszewski

Born 20th September 2025 at 34 weeks, weighing 4lb 13oz

After 9 weeks of emergency hospital visits

2 false starts with labour

1 hospital transfer 60 miles from home

A 2 week stay in hospital for Mum before birth

And a week and counting to show everyone he's strong enough to come home

Not everyone gets to be a premie parent, but for those that do - you'll know how resilient these little guys are

Even if they do leave you with a few less hairs on your head

Safe to say & Aston is absolutely smitten to be a big brother too

Now the real fun begins 😂

Every client success is special - but if you knew what went through to get to where she is now, you'd know how much this one means

I definitely can't take all the credit though, when I get to regularly work with coaches like , it makes my life a hell of a lot easier (and makes me look better too!)

If you keep turning up and doing the work, you will get to where you want to be

Sometimes, it's not quick

Sometimes, it does really take 18 months to get better

If you're struggling with pain all you need to do is ask for some help, and you'll find me at , in London, and online!

Random garage training thoughts - Train for the adaptation you NEED, with the exercise you WANT

The longer I train and treat, the more I realise 3 things.

1) The basics done well exceed the complicated done poorly.

2) Clients will adhere more to something if they like it than if they don't.

3) Trainers and therapists (myself included) invest a lot of their self-esteem in their intellect and reasoning processes within their interventions, which is why if you suffer with imposter syndrome, you're probably a good person.

Picking HOW an exercise is done is just as important as WHAT exercise you do. The HOW depends on the WHY - the desired adaptation - the case in point here uses paused Deadlifts, because I like Deadlifts, and I can use them to suit my needs whilst meeting my wants.

Need to learn to push the gas pedal and intent to apply force into the floor? Want to teach a bendy and mobile client to create and maintain some tension and stiffness? Want to bias ribcage and abdominal compression? Want to encourage someone to exhale purposefully on the way up? Want to bias towards an overcoming movement? Consider a concentric pause.

Need to develop the brakes and force absorbing qualities to match the gas pedal? Want to teach a stiff client how to overcome this tension? Want to bias ribcage and abdominal expansion? Want to encourage purposeful inhalation on the way down? Want to encourage a yielding contraction? Consider an eccentric pause.

When you work with your clients or patients, give them what they want (their favourite exercise (what) and the desired adaptation (why)) in a way that gives them what they need (how). Basic exercises, with intellectually sound implementation keeps everyone happy and on the Gainz train!!

Shout out as always to and for helping me stave off sarcopenia during lockdown and for some stimulating mentorship inspo on this is post.

SEMINAR POSTPONED

Unfortunately - owing to the pace at which the Coronavirus pandemic is growing, and I have taken the decision to postpone the Pain to Performance Seminar until later in the year when we have a better idea of how the next few months are going to pan out.

We're really disappointed, but as a place of health and performance, we have a responsibility to you, our members and everyone connected to minimise the risk of unnecessary transmission.

All attendees have been emailed and you can either receive a refund, or maintain your booking for the future.

We'll see you later this year!

Want an idea of what's coming for the Powering Through Seminar with myself and ? Well here's a sneak preview.

There's gonna be theory, research, anecdote, practicals, memes and more.

You've got a month left on the early bird rate - check out my bio or send me a message to sign up!

Double Heel Elevated Zercher Squats. Swipe For More Info and Coaching Tips ➡️➡️➡️ . As a long limbed dude with stiff AF ankles and a proficiency in hinging, these double heel elevated Zercher Squats have been a great help of late. .

The value here is the upright torso, ability to push the knees forwards and anterior load. These will keep your squats squatty with a more pure vertical displacement, meaning you shouldn't feel your back and you should get a sick quad and glute pump.

I've had great success with these for clients with back pain and knee pain when executed correctly, and I'm diggin them myself as an accessory to my heavier squat day. If the Zercher position is an issue, you can always go with goblet or even dumbbells by your side to good effect. .

Cluster Sets for Hypertrophy

After a very successful 16 weeks on Pat Davidson's MASS program, I wanted to keep pushing the quest for jackeditude with my squat, bench & deadlift and my boy suggested I give cluster sets a whirl.

Take 70-80% of your max. Hit 5 reps, rest for around 20s, hit another 2 reps, rest again for 20s, and hit one more rep. Repeat for 3-4 sets.

They're far from new, and you might know them as rest-pause sets too, and this one was inspired by . You can always scale the intensity up and volume down if you want to skew these towards strength, but account for the extra recovery demand it'll create.

The remainder of my sessions is filled in with work to support the big 3, but also to not so everything in a bilateral sagittal stance. I've got about 8-10 weeks before I hop onto MASS 2 so I'm intrigued to see where this takes me against my end of MASS 1 maxes.
