Guide to eating well, not only low calories but avoiding additives than can harm.

Ok so it’s that time of year again where fitness and diets are top posts. As I always say, eat little and often. Don’t be fooled by these chemical diets that promise fast weight loss. The drugs could be much more harmful than good. Do your research and remember these could react with any exhausting medication you may be on. I will never support artificial types of weight loss.

Christmas is here. Time to enjoy our food and the festive season. Remember it’s only a few days and you are allowed treats once in a while.Enjoy and watch this space in January for tips to detox etc. 😊👍🏻

Hey! It’s been a while since I posted. Following on from my dislike of artificial sweeteners, it’s now come to light that the natural alternative is no better. The plant Stevia is now known to contain carcinogenic properties which can cause melanoma/skin cancers. So it’s small amount of sugar or nothing.

Christmas gone for another year. Most, if not all ,of the extra food has gone. Time to start shopping smart, buying only food you need and no snacks. Drop the extras like biscuits and crisps. Look at getting more frozen vegetables to fill up the freezer and plan meals ahead by bulk cooking and then freezing portions. It will prevent the need for fast food or takeaways and also save money.
January is usually a tight month,so your healthy eating will help you financially too.
Don’t rush to starve yourself with a fad diet, ease gently into a healthy new start.

Heat , stress, feeling fed up. All can cause us to over eat. Try drinking more water inbetween eating. This will give you much needed hydration and help curb the munchies. If you have already had the summer holiday, try cutting down before you launch into a full scale diet.it will seem much easier that way.

It’s holiday season again. Give yourself a break and relax before your time away. You can think about any weight issues when you come back. But until then , make sure you drink plenty of water, try to eat more veg and salad items, cut out the sweet snacks and don’t skip any meals. That will only slow your metabolism down. I will post post holiday ideas later in the year. Until then , enjoy and relax!

Recent reports have stated that Milk that’s Skimmed or semi skimmed is no longer the better option. Studies have shown that the Milk is processed too much and contains unwelcome additives. Blue labelled Milk is the most nutritious and beneficial to our bodies. The Term “Full Fat” is being dropped and in future blue labelled milk is to be known as “Whole Milk”. Just like artificial sweeteners, it shows fat isn’t the enemy , intervention is.

I am so glad that it has finally been recognised that artificial sweeteners are bad for you. A direct link to certain types of cancer. I have been saying for years that it is bad. The only substitute for sugar is Stevia, natural plant extract. I always go for the sugar option if I have fizzy drinks or sweets. Just do not have them all the time. Next one on my hit list, low fat spreads. Again full of chemicals. The Healthy option is cut down fats, not substitute. Watch this space.

BBC 1 now! Ultra processed food program. It’s what I have been saying all along!

It’s another struggle. Getting fit for an upcoming holiday and feeling tired and fed up. The weather doesn’t help and working hard in this financial climate , can be draining. Try swapping some meals for vegetarian options. Cut back on alcohol and reduce sugar intake. Drink more water and get fresh air. It’s amazing how much you benefit from a walk to clear your head. Small changes help you move forward.
