๐Ÿข DO get up slowly from the massage couch to avoid feeling faint.

๐Ÿ’ง DO drink plenty of water to assist with rehydration and the detoxification process.

๐Ÿท DO avoid toxins such as alcohol and caffeine as these will dehydrate your body.

๐Ÿƒ DO rest your body and avoid vigorous activity for at least 24 hours. Your muscles may feel sore for a couple of days after a sports massage as they are recovering.

๐Ÿฅ˜ DO avoid a heavy meal soon after the massage as it may make you feel bloated or lethargic.

๐Ÿšฟ DO avoid taking a hot shower soon after a massage. Hot water may increase muscle inflammation. A warm shower or bath will help the muscles to continue to relax, wait a few hours after the massage if possible.

๐Ÿง˜ DO relax and rest your body and mind.

๐Ÿ’ช DO continue to stretch and strengthen your muscles in between your massage appointments.

๐Ÿ˜ฉ Muscle tension can be triggered by stress.ย It can leave muscles in a chronic state of contraction.

๐Ÿ˜ฃ Prolonged tension can lead to discomfort, muscle stiffness, soreness, and pain. Chronic, unmanaged stress can trigger muscle spasms, tension headaches and reduce overall mobility. Which letโ€™s face it makes you feel rubbish!

๐Ÿ’† Massage isnโ€™t just about trying to โ€˜fixโ€™ muscles. Itโ€™s about working with the nervous system to help the body feel safe enough to relax. Massage can shift the body from a high-alert, โ€œfight-or-flightโ€ state (sympathetic) to a โ€œrest-and-digestโ€ state (parasympathetic).

๐Ÿ’† Iโ€™m Torie, a Soft Tissue Therapist based at Move Chiropractic in Rodney Road, Cheltenham. I treat a variety of muscle related problems caused by sport, work, injury, poor postureโ€ฆ My aim is to reduce discomfort and to get my clients muscles functioning normally.

๐Ÿ’— I enjoy running, swimming, yoga, paddle boarding, walking and reading.

๐Ÿฅถ Iโ€™m a lido geek. I love finding new lidos and sea pools to swim in. I also enjoy the challenge of cold water swimming in the winter.

๐Ÿ‘ I grew up on a farm, close to the sea in Devon, so Iโ€™ve always been most at home in the great outdoors. Thereโ€™s nothing better than sandy toes!

๐Ÿ’ช If your muscles are really tight this can cause discomfort when you are sleeping. Itโ€™s hard to get comfortable and sometimes the muscles can cramp. This can really affect your sleep quality and quantity.

๐Ÿ’ค If muscle tightness is affecting your sleep quality book in for for a soft tissue treatment/sports massage. We all need lots of lovely sleep for our minds and bodies to function well.
