We enjoyed Christmas Jumper Day so much last year that we decided to make it last the whole week this year. And our team didn't let us down with festive dresses, pyjamas, suits and accessories all making an appearance! Well done to best dressed winners Helen, Carol, Luke, Bev and Jess.

And thanks to all the staff, visitors and patients who made donations to Save The Children. Save The Children are one of the leading child poverty charities in the UK, making a difference to children’s lives across the country and worldwide.

We delivered another successful Digi Hub this week at the Wilson Health Centre with our lovely new Digi Hub Mentor, Rachel! GlosDigi

Here are some of the highlights:

⚙️ We helped a carer access her husband's medical records. He had lots of appointments and test results and now she can view all of this conveniently on her phone via the NHS app.

⚙️ We showed a patient how to to view all of their prescriptions, as well as just their repeat ones on the NHS app.

⚙️ We helped a patient log in to the NHS app and troubleshooted problems with installing it on their device.

⚙️ We helped a patient update to the latest version of the NHS app and how to check for future updates, making sure they get the best functionality and experience.

If you don't catch us here, please do find digital support at these other community settings:

GRCC's DAISI Project @ School House Café
12:30 - 2pm every Monday

Rachel @ Springbank Community Group CiC
10am - 2pm every Wednesday

UPDATE: Joots Pharmacy in Waitrose has now permanently closed.
You will be able to get your prescriptions dispensed elsewhere with your NHS Number and Prescription Barcode Number (this can be found on your NHS App). Please change your nominated pharmacy on your NHS App or at the GP Surgery.

Please see the information below on opening hours for all Cheltenham pharmacies over this August Bank Holiday weekend.

Check to make sure you have enough of your medication now and collect your prescriptions in a timely manner! ⏰💊

The annual GP patient survey was published this week and we're really chuffed with the results. This is a national survey carried out by Ipsos where a sample of patients from every GP practice in England answer some key questions. The full results for Berkeley Place Surgery are here

https://www.gp-patient.co.uk/patientexperience/results?code=L84030

As always, there are a few things we need to reflect on and try to improve, particularly around making it easier to contact us and ensuring you see your usual or preferred GP. However overall 88% describe their experience as good or very good. This compares with 75% nationally and 80% for Gloucestershire.

Thank you to all of our patients who returned the annual survey. And thank you to our amazing clinicians, receptionists and administrators who work so incredibly hard every single day and always aim to provide the very best care. We couldn't do this without you all!

There has been a lot of interest from patients about the use tirzepatide (Mounjaro) for weight loss purposes. At the moment, this is not available through any GP practice in Gloucestershire. Local NHS teams are working hard to put in place the support arrangements to enable this. Initially this will be for those patients who would benefit most from treatment.

We recognise it can be difficult for some people living with obesity to access the support you feel you need and that those most likely to benefit from this medication may wish to access it as soon as possible. We are committed to updating you on service developments as they occur. Meanwhile, please don’t call your GP or make an appointment to ask for tirzepatide while treatment arrangements are being finalised.

Please see further information here

Thank you!

The best thing to do in the hot weather is stay out of the direct sun, especially during the hottest part of the day, between 11am and 3pm, as UV rays are strongest during these hours.

• If you’re going out in the hot weather, walk in the shade, apply sunscreen, wear a hat, sunglasses and light, loose-fitting, light-coloured clothes

• Apply sunscreen frequently of at least SPF 30 and 4 or 5 star ultraviolet A (UVA) protection regularly to exposed skin

• Drink plenty of fluids and avoid excess alcohol during the hot weather

• Avoid extreme physical exertion during the hot weather. If you can’t avoid strenuous outdoor activity, keep it for cooler parts of the day such as early morning or evening
