We are pleased to share details of a new Cheltenham men's mental health walking group starting Wed 11 March. Men Walking and Talking is a national charity founded in 2021 to provide simple, free, peer-support spaces for men.

The format is intentionally uncomplicated:
• A free, weekly one-hour walk
• No referral needed
• No cost
• No pressure to talk
• Just men walking side-by-side in a safe, informal space

The group will meet at Pittville Pump Room (GL52 3JE) at 6:45pm for a 7pm start on Wed 11 March.

This group is not therapy and not a replacement for professional support. However we know men sometimes don’t feel comfortable accessing professional support. Walking side by side non judgemental peers offers an alternative to help build connections, reduce isolation and create space for conversation.

You can contact Terry or Ian to find out more at www.menwalkingandtalking.co.uk/cheltenham or simply turn up.

Our very own Dr Jim Ropner has decided to get out from behind his desk, and has entered himself into Bristol’s Strongest Man 2026. Whilst he insists he is firmly in the beginners category, he has been training for a few years and says he is ready to test himself against the best that Bristol has to offer!

The competition events include deadlift, sandbag medley, axel bar overhead press, sandbag to shoulder, and Dinnie Stone walk. This is his first attempt at many of these challenges.

Given Dr Ropner's clinical work supporting patients with dementia, he is keen to support the great work of Alzheimer's Society.

The annual GP patient survey was published this week and we're really chuffed with the results. This is a national survey carried out by Ipsos where a sample of patients from every GP practice in England answer some key questions. The full results for Berkeley Place Surgery are here

https://www.gp-patient.co.uk/patientexperience/results?code=L84030

As always, there are a few things we need to reflect on and try to improve, particularly around making it easier to contact us and ensuring you see your usual or preferred GP. However overall 88% describe their experience as good or very good. This compares with 75% nationally and 80% for Gloucestershire.

Thank you to all of our patients who returned the annual survey. And thank you to our amazing clinicians, receptionists and administrators who work so incredibly hard every single day and always aim to provide the very best care. We couldn't do this without you all!
