🎄 OSJCT Advent Window Trail – Day 3 at Grevill House! 🎅✨

Throughout December, each OSJCT home in the central region will reveal a beautifully decorated advent window to celebrate the festive season.

Today, Grevill House proudly presents Window Number 3, sharing the story of a very unexpected afternoon…

The doorbell rang — and to our surprise, Santa himself walked in, followed by a group of extremely worried elves!

🎁 “We’ve lost most of the gifts,” Santa explained. “A strong gust of wind shook the sleigh and the presents fell out. We need your help!”

Without hesitation, everyone at Grevill House jumped into action.
Some helped the elves make new toys, others wrapped treats, and a few even knitted little gifts. Soon, the room was filled with laughter, ribbon, and very busy, very grateful elves.

By the end of the afternoon, the sleigh was full once again.

✨ “You’ve saved Christmas,” Santa said with a warm smile.
The elves cheered as they headed back to the sleigh — Christmas saved by the kindness and teamwork of Grevill House.

Recently we held a fantastic Hawaiian celebration with our residents, team, family and friends. From colourful leis to plenty of music, food and laughter – it was a day filled with tropical fun and great company. 🌸🌞

🌸 Community Afternoon Tea at Grevill House 🌸

We had a truly wonderful day on Wednesday 25th June, celebrating Care Home Open Week with our very own Community Afternoon Tea ☕🧁🧀

Although Care Home Open Week officially ran from 16 - 22 June, we were delighted to mark the occasion just a few days later with a fantastic gathering of residents, families, and local guests.
A huge thank you to Councillor Angie Boyes for joining us and spending time with our residents and team, despite her busy schedule. Your visit brought so much enjoyment to everyone, and we look forward to welcoming you back again in the future. 💛

We’d also like to give a special thank you our amazing kitchen team, and especially Chef-Maxi, who lovingly prepared all the delicious handmade cakes and biscuits – the Victoria sponge and shortbreads was a real highlight! Everyone also enjoyed a lovely selection of cheeses and crackers, which added an extra special touch to the afternoon. 🧀✨

And of course, thank you to all the families who came along to share in the afternoon – your presence made the day feel truly special.

Community events like this mean so much to our residents, as they foster connection, spark joy, and create lasting memories 💫

🎾 Game, Set, Summer! ☀️

Several of our Central homes across Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire, along with our Extra Care Housing schemes, came together to create a fun video to kick off the summer season and celebrate the arrival of Wimbledon!

The video reflects a volley of collaboration and community across our homes—bringing people together, encouraging wellbeing, and serving joy in these shared moments.

We’re ready to go… and we’re bringing our A-game, set and match! 💪🎉

📚🔍 Meet Jean – our resident crime story enthusiast!

Jean has a real passion for reading and can often be found with her nose in a good book - especially if it’s a gripping crime or mystery novel! 🕵️‍♀️

She loves unravelling the twists and turns of a good whodunnit, and it’s always a joy to see her so engaged in the stories she reads. Our team knows just how much Jean enjoys her books - and whenever someone has a spare mystery novel to share, it often finds its way straight to her! 💛

We love supporting our residents’ individual interests and making sure there’s always time for the things they enjoy most.

🎤✨ Mamma Mia, what an afternoon! ✨🎤

Recently, we had an absolutely fabulous time here at Grevill House when the talented David Gaston came to entertain us with a lively ABBA-themed performance! 💃🕺

Our team fully joined the celebration, dressing up and sharing the joy with our residents. From singing and dancing to plenty of laughs, it was a feel-good afternoon enjoyed by everyone. It was a joy to see residents up on their feet, especially sharing a dance with our Management Team: Suzi, Kasia and Sarah.

🇬🇧 Central Celebrate VE Day 🇬🇧

We celebrated the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe throughout our Central Division of care homes.

From musicians and dancing to delicious afternoon teas and street parties, the residents at our homes enjoyed a truly special day filled with joy, laughter, and great entertainment.

Music is such a powerful tool - it can lift spirits, spark memories, and create meaningful connections. At Grevill House, we love seeing how music brings joy to our residents in different ways. 💙

One of our residents is a big fan of Roy Orbison, and he recently enjoyed listening to his favourite songs while having his morning coffee. Moments like this are part of our person-centred approach, where we focus on what matters most to each individual - their interests, their stories, and the little things that bring them happiness. 🌟

Whether it’s singing along, tapping a foot, or simply listening, music always finds a way to touch the heart. 💙
