Homework from this month’s Seasonal Yoga Teacher Training weekend - capturing your uncaught mind 🙉

If 95% of our actions are controlled by our involuntary thoughts and emotions 🤯 we don’t know ourselves at all

So how can we create a little more agency within ourselves?

Short answer: yoga 😅

But it’s true, all those physical practices, the asana, meditation, breathwork - they aren’t to make you more flexible, they are to help you take control of your monkey mind

Try being present in every movement

Try focusing on your breath

Try clearing your mind, even for a second

And you are slowly capturing your mind, yourself, your strength

For all my keyboard warriors 👆🏼 and beginner yogis

If you’re starting out in your practice, or spend a lot of time at a computer, even on the tools, this is for you 🤗

A simple, quick and easy wrist stretch, to make sure you’re not losing any mobility (especially important if you’re getting a little older) and nix discomfort during your practice when you might be spending more time on your wrists than you’re used to 👐🏼

Try it for a week, see how you feel: report back please!

These 👆🏼 3 things will bring us safely home to our hearts

Obviously yoga asana is incredible for your body and mind: matching movement to breath, focusing on the moment, moving energy around your body and sending love to what and where it needs.

But it’s so much more than that. Asana is only the beginning. For me, the philosophy was a revelation when I did my own Yoga Teacher Training.

The philosophy is the wise, compassionate friend that never judges and is always there for you, no matter how long it’s been since you checked in.

If your yoga practice is solely asana at the moment, I would really encourage you to dip into the philosophy - just for fun, for interest’s sake, maybe for your sanity’s sake too.

Now is our time: it’s time to bloom 🌸

Finally, finally, we have made it to spring - the start of our year for Seasonal Yoga

The energy is rising, it’s time to match our asana practice to it. Let’s open our hearts to the opportunities of a new season, a new fresh perspective.

I’ll be sharing asana, meditation and holistic lifestyle tips tailored to the season as well as yogic philosophy that’s on my mind 🧘‍♀️

Let’s enjoy some sunshine (hopefully!) together

I know, I know - nobody likes homework

Think of it more as an intention.

Over the weekend in the Seasonal Yoga Teacher Training weekend, we talked about Satya

🕉️ Truthfulness 🕉️

Second of the yamas, or restraints, we work with in yogic philosophy, satya is asking us to think, speak and act with integrity.

Easy, right?

We all have our own perceptions, mindsets, experiences, stories which shape how we view and interact with the world, and ourselves.

How much of that is *true*?

If you’re a self help fan, you might have heard of .katie, who is selling the same thing, “The Work”

🪻Is it true?
🪷Can you absolutely know that it’s true?
🌸How do you react when you believe that thought?
🌼Who would you be without the thought?

Something to ask yourself as you’re moving through the month. This is our homework for the YTT too, you’re not alone
