The Yoga Tree

The Yoga Tree Yoga & Well-Being Hi I'm Emma and this is my seasonal yoga page.

I am based in the beautiful Cotswolds and my aim is to bring the benefits of yoga to all those who can, all who wish they could, and all that just want to give it a go.

Sometimes we find ourselves moving in circles, same thoughts, same patterns, same postures 🍂
But not all loops are traps
Some are teachers
Autumn is here to remind us how to let go. To shed what’s heavy, to trust in the space we’re creating
And in yoga, repetition can do the same
Each round softens the edges
Each breath quiets the mind
The movement itself becomes meditation
🍁 What are you ready to release this season?

A couple of things to remind yourself as we move through Autumn according to Seasonal Yoga 🍁🍂

Save this for when you need it. Anything that calls to you?

We’re in Libra season now, perfectly timed with the equinox. The symbol for Libra is the scales ⚖️♎️

Libra literally points us towards balance, as we move through the equinox and today’s equilux (when night and day are exactly the same length)

It’s the thing we are all striving for, but almost always (just me?) seems out of reach. Life is very much that meme saying “adulthood is just saying ‘things will calm down soon’ until we die’

Balance is hard - you’ve been to a yoga class, balance postures seem simple, but the practice of them can be really challenging.

All those little wobbles, little realignments, subtle shifts as your body tried to maintain its equilibrium, that is life. You fall out of the pose, you try again.

Are you still pursing balance or have you given up at this point? 😅

In Traditional Chinese Medicine and Seasonal Yoga, Late Summer is associated with the spleen.

If you’re anything like me, you have no idea what a spleen is/does. Apart from maybe the new series of UK and that Human Design guy talking about his splenic energy?!

It filters your blood
It supports your immune system
It controls and produces red blood cells

So quite important. Here’s what it means for you in this season ☝🏼

A practice to connect you with joy 👆🏼

Summer is the season of the heart, of joy, of connection. But honestly, sometimes that’s hard to find, in any season.

So take 5 minutes (2 minutes!) and imagine something that brings you joy - that’s it. That’s all you have to do.

Try it, and let me know in the comments, how did it feel?
