1000 Days of Spiritual Awakening

What does that even mean?

It’s actually been 968 days, to be precise. 968 days since my soul said “It’s time! So hold on for the ride.” 😃

I get asked all the time - “what happened, what was it like?”

There is no real way of describing a spiritual awakening in words - language falls far short - but I’ll try.

Here is the journey as it unfolded for me.

1. The Despair – Forced awakening often starts with pain 😔 and boy is that the truth. For me it was a relationship coming abruptly to an end, breaking my heart - or did it actually crack it open?

2. The Confusion – OMG the confusion. Was I going mad? Having a breakdown? What was happening to me? The existential crisis so deep; the grief inconsolable; the emotion overwhelming me. My nervous system went into extreme survival mode.

3. The Searching – Spiritual books, teachers, podcasts, YouTube: I couldn’t get enough of them. I spent months searching for answers. Surely this was a spiritual awakening wasn’t? Was it???

4. The Dark Night of the Soul – Endless purging. Physical ailments. Bodily changes. Energy realigning. Old paradigms and beliefs falling away. Slow transformation that went on for nearly 2 years. 😱 It forces me to start living day by day. I began Meditating, learning to witness my thoughts regulate my emotions: to breathe, to ground. The chrysalis.

5. Ego death – starting to question “Who am I?”
Who am I if I’m not “Katharine”, not my thoughts, my identity, my personality, my fears and doubts? Everything I believed about myself started dissolving. Both terrifying and liberating.

6. The in-between – No more pain, but not fully soul-led yet. But no longer ego-identified either. Somewhere in-between. Finally, some hope and peace. I feel settled but neutral. Suspended. A strange feeling.

7. Soul mission – My calling starts to become clear: bring this wisdom into the corporate world. Executive Wisdom and Conscious Leadership were born.

8. Co-creation – Synchronicities start multiplying. Life begins to unfold effortlessly. No more hustle. Awe and gratitude fills my days. But I’m still human. Emotions fluctuate. Triggers still happen.

9. Balance – On the surface, not much has changed in 1000 days. And yet everything is different. My nervous system is calmer. I feel peaceful. I feel whole as I am. Desire comes from the heart not from neediness. Fear comes, but I see it for what it is, an illusion — and alchemise it. Triggers are simply opportunities to know myself more deeply.

🌱 This was my story and it was pretty intense but you don’t have to wait for life to wake you up.

You can choose now to live from soul, consciously, every single day.

The strength and security you seek…

… is within you.

Yes 🙄 I know you’ve heard it 1000x.

But it’s true.

Let me tell you why.

Do you hug trees? 🌳😃

Today I went on walk that passes by a majestic oak tree I’ve always loved.

Lost in an empty field.

One so big I could never wrap my arms fully around it.

At my lowest point, I would press my cheek into the trunk and cry. Somehow it made me feel held. Less alone.

Trees have incredible energy, strength and solidity. They help to ground us if we can tune into them.

It used to calm my nervous system down.

When I arrived today, the tree had been felled. 🪓

And to my surprise, I didn’t feel shocked or saddened by this.

💡What you come to realise on a spiritual journey, is that nothing is accident, nothing is by chance.

I sat down on the trunk and asked myself what this could mean.

And then it came to me.

💫 I no longer need propping up.
💫 I no longer need something external to regulate my energy.
💫 I’ve created that stability within myself.

Slowly, slowly, one day at a time.

I’m not saying it’s wrong to lean on the external world, but freedom is reaching a place where safety, support, and grounding can be generated from within.

This was the universe’s way of reflecting that back to me.

Every ancient text from the Bible to the Bhagavad Gita, teaches this truth: the outer world mirrors the inner world.

“As above so below.”

When you master the inner, the outer reflects it back as material proof.

So I sat back down on the trunk to write you this post. 😊

Cold waters, ancient stones, and sacred energy.

I’m on the Isle of Lewis, where the wild Atlantic meets ancient standing stones.

Nine months ago, I was inspired by a spiritual teacher di Stefano to embark on a pilgrimage - the Path of the Apples - a journey through the UK’s stone circles and major energy centres.

I’ve travelled from Avebury to Stonehenge, Glastonbury, Nine Ladies, Brimham Rocks, Druids Temple, and Castlerigg.

Today, I’m on the final leg of this journey — visiting Loch Ness, Callanish, Garry Beach, Bostadh in the Outer Hebrides, and then the Ring of Brodgar and Yesnaby on the Orkney Islands.

Apples 🍎 have long been a symbol of wisdom, immortality, and the cycles of life, death, and rebirth in Celtic and Arthurian traditions.

And 🗺️ journeys, in an archetypal sense, always symbolise transformation.

I felt a deep pull to walk and travel from South to North - feeding my soul and connecting with the energy of this sacred land.

Plunging into these cold waters and standing among these ancient stones reminds me of how fleeting and precious life is.

It fills me with gratitude for everything I have and for the profound gift of nature and its restorative power.

I truly am blessed. ❤️💫
