Vestibular Rehabilitation is the treating dizziness, vertigo & balance disorders.
Dizziness and balance problems can arise from dysfunction of the vestibular system - the part of the inner ear and brain responsible for balance, gaze stability and spatial awareness.
Vestibular rehabilitation physiotherapy may help with:
• Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV)
• Vestibular neuritis / labyrinthitis
• Post-whiplash dizziness
• Persistent postural-perceptual dizziness (PPPD)
• Concussion-related balance problems
• Cervicogenic dizziness (neck-related)
Treatment may include:
• Canalith repositioning manoeuvres
• Gaze stabilisation exercises
• Balance and postural control training
• Habituation exercises
• Movement retraining and rehabilitation
Evidence shows targeted vestibular physiotherapy can significantly reduce dizziness and improve balance and confidence in daily activities.
