Solo Weekend🫶🏼

Done 3 months of living down here and I’m quite enjoying my solo weekends, I feel like I’m constantly ticking off doing things by myself that I never thought I would but actually it’s not that scary??

1. Really getting back into my strength training
2. Went on my first group hike with 30 strangers🥾
3. Christmas markets and BF shopping (not having someone to restrain me was the difficult part) 🛍️
4. The second wicked! 🎞️
5. Finished my book 📚
6. Wrapped and ready🧑‍🎄
7. always feel comfortable on the course🏌🏼‍♀️

✨Let’s break down your BACKSWING⛳️

• The Trap is used to help rotate that shoulder on the backswing 💪🏽

• Subscapularis is used to bring that left arm across your body and provide stabilisation🙋🏽‍♀️

• Obliques help that twisting action of the trunk 🌪️

• Erector spinae is working hard to stabilise and resist over rotation to give you control in your turn🔐

• Right hamstring and glute is firing as you transition your weight from the centre to the back leg/foot🦵🏽

‼️Golf is a repetitive sport and we need to be keeping checks on muscle imbalances and joint stiffness to both prevent injury and swing freely🤩

… both aspects that I love to help with being a chiropractor🫶🏼🤗

🦵🏽It’s easy to overcompensate on one side during compound lifts or even daily activities like carrying groceries or climbing stairs.

🙅🏽‍♀️Over time, that can lead to muscle imbalances, joint stress, and eventually… pain.

Adding single-leg work helps build stability, balance, and control keeping your body moving evenly and pain-free 💪

How I got injured - out of Golf for 4 months. (and I cried because I was having the season of my career🫠)

As a Chiropractor now, the amount of times I hear “it just went”… and I WAS ONE OF THEM!

But, if we are being honest with ourselves… did it just go?

Granted if you had a car crash or traumatic injury - 100% no doubt

But if it just came “out of nowhere” … to be straight up - it was building up for a while

Probably out of neglecting the only body you have, because unfortunately, self-prioritising isn’t a thing we like to invest in. Which then becomes a massive regret when you can’t do the things you love and wanted to🤷🏽‍♀️

So you may as well just get yourself in for some top ups … bit of an MOT shall we say.

And not make the same mistake little me did👎🏼

How much of this can you relate to / feel in yourself?

✨One of my patients is now pain free and we are just doing maintenance once a month.
⚠️BUT we’ve noticed a stressful day at work can sometimes trigger some pain again.

So now we are working together to help build some resilience and use specific tools aligned with this patient to manage this😌

🌊 1. Less Muscle Soreness
Cold water helps calm inflammation and reduce that post-workout ache.

💨 2. Better Circulation
Cold → tightens blood vessels.
Rewarming → boosts blood flow.
This helps flush out waste and bring in oxygen and nutrients.

😌 3. Mood & Focus Boost
Cold exposure triggers endorphins and norepinephrine - your body’s natural “feel-good” and energy hormones.

💰 4. Cheap & Just as Good as Cryotherapy
Research shows no big difference between cold plunges and the spenny cryo chambers - except the price tag 😬

Things to keep in mind⚠️
✅Don’t jump into extreme cold - start with 30–60 seconds and build up.
✅Avoid if you have cardiovascular issues or uncontrolled hypertension.
✅Always warm up gradually after.
