Catbrook Memorial Hall

Catbrook Memorial Hall A great venue with fantastic sound and light systems in the heart of the Wye Valley .Promoting events and supporting the local community.

Available for hire and even suitable for bouncy castles The Memorial Hall is part of a timber-framed American WW1 Military Hospital. It was transported to the village from the London area and erected on land donated by a resident in 1924. Although it has been modernised several times, it still retains the original timber framing and roof supports. The last refurbishment, which included an extension with new kitchen and toilets, was completed by volunteers in 2004.

Excellent news! Pocket Choral society are coming to Catbrook on 11 September! Tickets available shortly!

Some great moments when organising events for Catbrook Memorial Hall. Two of us went to have a look at a potential act and what a fun evening we had!

The Pocket Choral Society arrive from the elusive village of Pocket with a wonderfully offbeat comedy a ca****la show. This four-strong choir blends rich vocal harmonies with sharp humour, original songs, theatrical touches, topical moments, and the occasional burst of inspired improvisation.

Singing entirely unamplified and unaccompanied, the group perform as a single, tightly knit vocal unit. Alongside their own material, they offer fresh and unexpected arrangements of well-known songs by writers such as Lennon & McCartney, Flanders & Swann, and Tom Waits. Created especially with village halls like us in mind, the show is relaxed, intimate, and designed to leave audiences smiling long after the last note.

So how was it? “ brilliant”, “very silly” and “they were much funnier than I thought they’d be”. Coming to Catbrook this autumn. Look out for the date and absolutely dont miss it!

Security alert- please keep a look out and attend to your locks.

Around 6pm Thursday a transit van came up a local drive The driver got out and spoke to another man who appeared from the direction of the woodland behind. They shared a few words then the man on foot went back the way he had come, and the driver got back in the van and reversed towards the house.

Neighbour went out to see what he wanted and he got out of his van. He asked if they had a dog, and said ‘is it here?’ and neighbour said yes. Driver said he’d seen a large scruffy dog running around on the road and wondered if it was theirs but then he got back in his van and left.

Neighbour did not feel comfortable about this. Maybe they were doing a recce on the place.

The van is variously described as blue or maybe red and rusty. The driver was average height, a bit scruffy (wispy curly hair and a beard), but otherwise nondescript, and didn’t have a local accent. The man on foot was a bit taller and had grey hair.
