Road closure affecting access to Woking Community Hospital
Part of Heathside Road (near the crossroads with White Rose Lane) will be closed from Monday 10 November to Saturday 20 December due to essential improvement works.
Impact on access:
• Entry to Woking Community Hospital will only be possible via the Police Station end of Heathside Road.
• White Rose Lane will operate under two-way traffic lights for the duration of the works.
• Bus services will not stop outside the hospital during this period.
Please allow extra time for your journey and plan accordingly.
As an unpaid carer, you could pass the flu virus to the person you care for, even if you have no symptoms. Protect yourself and those around you - carers are eligible for a free flu vaccination which you can receive at your GP or local community pharmacist.
Tuesday 11 November is Armistice Day and is an anniversary that marks the end of World War I in 1918. It is also used as a day of Remembrance to commemorate the service and sacrifice of all those who have served in the Armed Forces and pay tribute to the fallen from all conflicts and duty across the ages.
Please join us at either of our services at the main entrance of St Peter’s Hospital or Ashford Hospital. The service will start at 10.45am ending with a two-minute silence at 11am.

We’ve hosted our first Joint Nursing, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals (AHP) conference, celebrating the expertise and collaborative work of these incredible professionals 👏
The event, which was attended by colleagues from Royal Surrey and Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, included lively discussions and guidance on access to healthcare careers as well as information on operational management, research and professional development.
The conference was part of our Nursing, Midwifery and AHP Plan to establish shared priorities for the next five years. The objectives in the plan were developed from the voices of nursing, midwifery and AHP teams, with collective goals that will drive future success.
Thank you to everybody who attended the event 💙

In our fifth and final podcast we are joined by Dr Clarence Chiksu, Director of Medical Education, Interim Specialty Lead, Senior Adult Medical Services (SAMS), and Armed Forces Clinical Lead.
Clarence describes his time in the army and tells an amusing anecdote involving a patient desperate to get out of bed to greet him.
In our fourth podcast we are joined by Jay Dungeni Chief Nursing Officer. Jay speaks about the side of him we don’t always get to see, and he teaches us about the importance of respecting those around us and the African philosophy Ubuntu.

Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the largest provider of acute hospital services in Surrey and serves a population of around 415,000 people across North West Surrey and parts of Hounslow.
We provide a whole range of services across our two hospital sites - Ashford Hospital, Middlesex and St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey.
The majority of planned care, like day case and orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation services, is provided at Ashford, with more complex medical and surgical care and emergency services at St Peter's. Both hospitals provide a wide range of outpatient clinics.
Our specialist services include orthopaedics, cardiology, vascular services, bariatric surgery and neo-natal intensive care. The Trust works hard to ensure quality remains our top priority and we have been rated overall as 'Good' by the Care Quality
Commission, following a full inspection of our hospitals in December 2014 and follow up inspection in February 2017 - great news for local patients.
The Trust has been nominated as a top 40 hospital by CHKS (a national provider of healthcare intelligence) based on a number of important quality and safety indicators for five years running. We have also recently been reported as one of the top performing hospitals nationally for hip fracture care and have seen much improved results in the latest NHS Staff Survey.
See our website at www.asph.nhs.uk for more details on our services and the Trust.
