Can people with dementia still live a 'normal' life? The answer is…
yes. Here’s how.

This clip features a family carer, a Home Instead Registered Care Manager, and a Clinical Psychologist discussing how to achieve a fulfilling life after a diagnosis. The key takeaways for our local community are:

â—Ź Relationship is Key: Skilful, patient care is essential, especially when a loved one resists help.
â—Ź Encourage Joy: Ask them, "What do I enjoy, and how can I do more of that?"
â—Ź Build a Network: Strong support and adapting the home environment make all the difference to independence.
At Home Instead, we provide, personalised care that focuses on nurturing relationships and supporting the life your loved one already enjoys in the comfort and familiarity of home.

A day of reflection and a day of Remembrance for those who never returned and for those who returned and upheld the memories of their fallen comrades.

Care Pro Mary Jo sent us beautiful photos of her client, W, who, during WWII was a member of The Canary Girls or Canaries. She wore her beret and badge so proudly today.

To remember her husband who also fought for our freedom, W observed and honoured the two minutes silence and gun salute in her home, alongside his regiment’s wreath.
This lovely lady was visited by her neighbour, who is also a veteran and they shared a quite morning.

“Canaries” or The Canary Girls as they were known, worked in munitions factories, a role that was vital for the war effort. Their jobs included handling and filling shells with explosives.

Their nickname came from the yellow staining of their skin and hair caused by contact with toxic chemicals such as TNT and cordite.
