March is Endometriosis Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness of endometriosis and the impact it can have on the day‑to‑day lives of many women.

It is estimated that around 10% of women of reproductive age are affected by endometriosis. It is a chronic medical condition that occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus (the endometrium) grows outside the uterus.

Although it is a benign (non‑cancerous) condition, it can significantly affect the quality of life of those living with it.

Support for endometriosis is available. At Runnymede Hospital, we run a dedicated BSGE-accredited Endometriosis Centre led by Mr Vasileios Minas, one of the most experienced Endometriosis Surgeons in the United Kingdom. Mr Minas can discuss symptoms of endometriosis, offer guidance, and recommend appropriate treatment options.
