Evening appointments available. Traditional acupuncture is a safe and effective practice, which can be used alongside conventional medicine. By inserting ultra-fine sterile needles into specific acupuncture points along the 12 acupuncture meridians or channels which cover the body, a traditional acupuncturist seeks to re-establish the free flow of energy (Qi or Chi) to restore balance and trigger the body’s natural healing response. As acupuncture aims to treat the whole person rather than specific symptoms in isolation it can be effective for a range of conditions. Some people turn to acupuncture for help with a specific symptom or condition. Others choose to have treatment to help maintain good health, as a preventive measure, or simply to improve their general sense of well-being. A growing body of evidence-based clinical research shows that traditional acupuncture, as practised by British Acupuncture Council members safely treats a wide range of common health problems including short-term relief of symptoms such as pain, tension-type headaches, migraines and temporary pain relief from osteoarthritis of the knee. The World Health Organisation (WHO) now recommends 29 symptoms, diseases and conditions which can be effectively treated by acupuncture and a further 63 conditions which have shown to have a therapeutic effect, but further proof is needed including:

- Digestive disorders: gastritis and hyperacidity, spastic colon, constipation, diarrhoea.
- Respiratory disorders: sinusitis, sore throat, bronchitis, asthma, recurrent chest infections.
- Neurological and muscular disorders: headaches, facial tics, neck pain, rib neuritis, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, various forms of tendinitis, low back pain, sciatica, osteoarthritis.
- Urinary, menstrual, and reproductive problems
