What is Botox you might ask?
Botox is a medication made from a purified form of botulinum toxin type A, a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.
When used in very small, controlled doses, it temporarily relaxes muscles by blocking the nerve signals that cause them to contract.
π Common Uses:
Cosmetic:
β’ Reduces wrinkles and fine lines (especially forehead lines, crowβs feet, and frown lines).
β’ Smooths skin for a more youthful appearance.
Medical:
β’ Treats chronic migraines
β’ Reduces excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)
β’ Helps with muscle spasms or stiffness (e.g., in cerebral palsy or after strokes)
β’ Eases symptoms of overactive bladder
β±οΈ Effects:
β’ Results typically appear in 3β7 days
β’ Last around 3β4 months before gradually wearing off
β οΈ Side Effects (usually mild):
β’ Bruising or swelling at the injection site
β’ Temporary headache or eyelid droop
β’ Rarely, unintended muscle weakness
