I’m a pretty keen runner, I’ve done a few marathons and ultra marathons, so I’ve followed this amazing man doing some unbelievable things for a while. Recently he visited a lovely school that KLB Children’s Therapy regularly visit. Well done Gary, and well done the Mayfield School Olympians! 🙌🏻

Can anyone recommend somewhere in the Middlesbrough area that do dancing or drama groups/lessons for a teenage girl with cerebral palsy?

Thank you!

This young person loves music and is learning to use Grid to give Alexa commands to play her favourite songs. Here she is with Tracey (Assistive Technologist at ATtherapy and Katy (Occupational Therapist, KLB Children's Therapy creating a story about her new baby sister.

Riley Regan, who attends the Aston Villa Foundation's Ability Counts disability football sessions, walked out with Danny Ings this afternoon and the striker joined his mascot in wearing headphones to block out the noise. 💜

I spoke to a lady who contacted me after my post about me looking for a little one with a possible hemiplegia, we spoke on the phone about your daughter, and I can’t find the name/number now! If you see this can you message me again? I was going to contact you once I had my kit and was ready to complete the assisting hand assessment, I’m now ready to do this! Thank you! X

Today has been a full on day! Im currently doing a course called “The Assisting Hand Assessment” which looks at children who have a hemiplegia and how well they use their “assisting/helping” hand. This can then help to tailor their therapy and create individual goals based on their difficulties, and can also help to monitor any progress they make. I need 2 children to do case studies on for my certification. So get in touch if your child has a hemiplegia and you’d be interested in a (free) assessment! Ideally aged from 2/3 to 10/12 years old. I need to complete these assessments by September 😊 thank you! Katy 😄

Explaining to my 6 year old what my job is. So I told him part of it was changing children’s houses so they could still get around their house if they couldn’t walk very well. His suggestion was to swap stairs for a slide! Excellent idea, I’ll pitch it to local councils for disabled facilities grants 😝

It’s really quite sad how happy it made me to get my own personalised pens today 🤣

This is Liz! Liz is the new assistant that will be working with KLB Children’s Therapy. Prior to specialising in paediatrics Liz worked in stroke rehabilitation, orthopaedics and general medicine. Liz began working as a paediatric OT and physio assistant in 1997, seeing children with a range of physical, social and communication, gross/fine motor, handwriting and sensory difficulties so she has a huge range of skills! Liz has also fostered teenagers in the past, which can only be done by a very special person indeed! She has a great passion for working with children, loves seeing the progress they make and watching children’s confidence increase as they learn to become more independent. Liz will be predominantly working with children in a mainstream school that commission KLB Children’s Therapy to provide their OT input.
I’m over the moon Liz has decided to join our team!

It’s taken much longer than I had hoped due to COVID, but finally tomorrow we have our first OT Assistant starting at KLB Children’s Therapy! The contract, DBS, job description and insurance is done, and finally schools are open again to allow us to get back to seeing children properly! I can’t wait to have this amazing OTA on board, I’ll introduce her tomorrow when she lets me take her picture 😝
