After 30 years in business, I thought it was about time I reintroduced myself so hello, I’m Laura and I’ve been the driving force behind The Scented Garden Retreat.

I opened The Scented Garden Retreat in November 1995 with a small £3,000 loan from The Prince’s Youth Business Trust and a big belief in the power of natural therapies. What began in a tiny shop on Godstall Lane, with just one treatment room, was built on my passion for creating natural products by hand - bath and body preparations, hand lotions, essential oils, candles and soaps.

As more people discovered and connected with the bespoke treatments I was offering, the business quickly grew. That growth allowed me to expand into larger premises and even export my products to Japan, Italy and Finland - something I could only have dreamed of at the start.

We now have two convenient locations in Chester - our original retreat nestled on the historic rows of Northgate Street, and our newer skin clinic located on Old Port Square in the Garden Quarter. We’re thrilled to offer the community even greater access to our full range of services, making it easier than ever to prioritise your well-being.

Thirty years on, my passion remains the same: creating a welcoming space where natural therapies, expert care and genuine well-being come together for every client who walks through our doors 🌿
