Happy International Women’s Day.
Yes, we need a day to celebrate women, for all the right reasons, and to bring us together in appreciation of the strength, care and wisdom we share.
I’m lucky to have many incredible women in my life.
The school mums.
The basketball mums.
My fellow yoga teachers, friends and students.
My friends.
And I was raised by a strong single mum 💪🏻
I appreciate every single one of them.
As I get older, I’ve become more intentional about the circles I keep and the boundaries I hold. And in this chapter of life, I appreciate these women more than ever. These are the ones I'm celebrating this year.
My circle of women nurture me, support me, advise me, inspire me and respect me. They care for me. They truly see me. They show up, they are reliable, and they bring kindness and safety into my life.
And with everything I receive from them, I pass it on to the next woman.
I see her and lift her up when she needs it.
I offer hope.
I help her find her light when it dims.
I hug her and hold her when she needs it,
I tell her how wonderful she is when she forgets
I see her achievements and success and I celebrate with her.
That’s the beauty of a circle of women. That’s what this day means to me.
We really are stronger together.
And we are at our weakest when we compete, envy, or try to outshine one another.
We cannot let the awful people of this world control us, suppress us, traffick us and abuse us or tell us we can't compete in sports or get the education or the jobs or the salary we deserve.
There are women all around the world that aren't quite as fortunate as we are here in the UK which is why this day needs to be international.
Here’s to women supporting women, today and every day.
