International Womens Day is on the 8th March. Chester university are holding
an inspiring, enjoyable & energising day open to people of all genders celebrating gender equity & this year's IWD theme of Give to Gain!

International Women’s Day at the University of Chester: Give to Gain
Join us in person to celebrate International Women’s Day at the University of Chester! It’s all about empowerment, connection, and sharing stories. Whether you want to learn, network, or just have a great time, this event is for you. Come along, get inspired, and discover how giving back can help you gain so much more. Don’t miss out!

This event centres on the 2026 International Women’s Day theme “Give to Gain”, which encourages generosity, collaboration, and shared progress. As IWD explains, Give to Gain highlights the power of reciprocity: when individuals, organisations, and communities give, whether through knowledge, resources, visibility, advocacy, education, mentoring, or time, the opportunities and support available to women multiply. Giving is not a subtraction; it is intentional growth. When women thrive, we all rise.

Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month
1–31 March 💙💚

March is a dedicated space to raise awareness of ovarian cancer, the symptoms to look out for, and the importance of early conversations with a healthcare professional.

Ovarian cancer can be difficult to recognise because symptoms often feel like everyday issues — which is why campaigns like this matter. Throughout the month, charities and NHS teams across the UK share guidance, support, and real stories to help families understand what to notice and when to reach out.

Key symptoms to be aware of include:
• Persistent bloating
• Feeling full quickly or loss of appetite
• Pelvic or abdominal pain
• Changes in urinary habits

If you or someone you care for is experiencing these symptoms regularly, it’s always worth checking in with a GP. Early assessment offers clarity, reassurance, and the right next steps.

World Teen Mental Wellness Day today raises awareness about the mental health challenges teenagers face today. This day encourages open conversations, reduces stigma, and promotes resources for emotional well-being. With rising stress from academics, social pressures, and digital influences, many teens struggle in silence. This event empowers them to seek support, practice self-care, and advocate for mental health.
Mental health struggles are unfortunately common in teens, making up 16% of disease and injuries in people aged 10 to 19. Mental health issues start from around 14 years of age and often go undiagnosed and untreated. Su***de and depression are some of the leading causes of death among teens, and can even lead to other struggles such as substance abuse in later years.

Today is National Scouse Day.If you’re wondering what the term “scouse” means, the one thing that you can possibly tell from it is that it’s most definitely British. Global Scouse Day has a unique tradition all on its own and only takes place in a specific place if Britain, but its impact can certainly be felt further afield.

Scouse is the 'national dish' of Liverpool and Merseyside. Adapted from the Lobskause of Norwegian sailors in the city, it gave the denizens their nickname. It's a simple stew of mutton (and/or beef), carrots and potatoes, and is always served with pickled red cabbage or beetroot.
