🌟 We’ve been recognising Radiation Safety Week at Nuffield Health Chester Hospital! 🌟

This week, we recognised Radiation Safety Week around the site by shining a light on the work of our fantastic Diagnostic Imaging Team and the vital role they play in keeping our imaging services safe, effective and patient‑focused.

Every day, our radiographers and clinical specialists use advanced imaging technology designed to deliver clear, accurate results while keeping radiation exposure as low as possible. Their expertise — supported by continuous training and rigorous quality checks — ensures we maintain the highest standards of safety.

Earlier in the week, our Diagnostic Imaging Team hosted a hands‑on drop‑in session on ‘How to Wear a Lead Gown Correctly!’ Staff were invited to take part, ask questions, and refresh their technique to ensure protective equipment is worn safely and effectively. Practical sessions like this help reinforce best practice, raise awareness, and support our ongoing commitment to patient and staff safety.

We’re pleased to share that Nuffield Health Chester, The Grosvenor Hospital is now offering Arthrosamid® injections — a long‑lasting, non‑surgical treatment option for people with mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis.

Arthrosamid® is an injectable hydrogel implant designed to cushion the knee joint and reduce friction, helping to relieve pain and improve mobility. It integrates into the synovial lining and can provide significant, long‑lasting pain reduction, with clinical evidence showing benefits lasting up to five years.

While there is no cure for osteoarthritis, many patients experience meaningful symptom improvement with Arthrosamid®.

Treatment typically includes a local anaesthetic, oral antibiotics 1–2 hours beforehand, and ultrasound‑guided injections into the synovial cavity.

As we continue celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2026, today we’re spotlighting three incredible colleagues who are developing their careers through our apprenticeship pathways here at Nuffield Health Chester, The Grosvenor Hospital.

From left to right, we are proud to highlight Maria, Karen and Georgia — each on their own inspiring journey of professional growth.

💚 Maria
Maria has been with Nuffield Health for four years.

She completed her Nursing Associate apprenticeship in September 2025 and will begin her Registered Nurse apprenticeship in March 2026, a programme that runs for 18 months.

Lisa Roberts, our Pre‑Assessment Lead, shared:
“Maria is enthusiastic and motivated, and truly a real asset to the team. She is always striving to deliver the very best for our patients, and it has been — and continues to be — a pleasure to watch her grow in both confidence and capability.”

💚 Karen
Karen completed her Nursing Associate apprenticeship in December 2025, having previously worked as an HCA in both theatres and outpatients. Her commitment to learning and development continues to positively support our teams and our patients.

These three colleagues show exactly what apprenticeships make possible — growth, confidence, new opportunities and stronger care for our patients.

💚 Georgia
Georgia brings over 10 years of experience in various healthcare roles and joined us nearly two years ago as our Radiology Administration Team Leader.

In October, she began The Nuffield Health Foundation Leaders Programme – Level 3 apprenticeship, supporting her development as a confident and capable leader within the hospital.

We’re incredibly proud of each of them and grateful for the passion they bring to our hospital every day. 💚

We’re delighted to announce that Nuffield Health Chester Hospital has officially reached 100 Mako Robotic‑Arm Assisted Operations!

This incredible milestone is a reflection of the dedication of our expert consultants, the hard work of our theatre and ward teams, and the trust our patients place in us every single day.

The Mako system uses advanced robotic‑arm technology to support our surgeons in delivering highly precise hip and knee replacements. By creating a personalised 3D model based on each patient’s anatomy, Mako enhances surgical accuracy — helping patients experience reduced pain, faster recovery, and shorter hospital stays.

Reaching 100 operations is a testament to the expertise of our staff and the excellent outcomes our patients are achieving. Our Story

Nuffield Health, The Grosvenor Hospital has remained Chester's leading private hospital since 1975. We deliver a comprehensive range of treatments and services, working alongside our dedicated team of expert consultants and nurses.

We specialise in the areas of orthopaedics, ophthalmology (eye care), cosmetic surgery and general surgery offering a wide range of treatments. We also partner with Pheonix Health to offer weight loss surgery.

In 2018 we completed a major refurbishment to our hospital, with two brand new state of the art theatres and a new day case suite offering cataract surgery, minor operations, endoscopy procedures and pain management treatment.

Our hospital provides excellent private en-suite rooms and facilities including on-site gym and physiotherapy.
