Training the next generation of surgeons is such a privilege and one of the parts of my job i enjoy the most. Trying to inspire and lead by example, and hopefully, they leave having learned plenty. I was so fortunate to have some great trainers during my training in Merseyside, Auckland, and Perth, and I always try to emulate them. It's been a pleasure to have working for me for 6 months and achieve so much in that time..i wish you all the best in the future and thanks for all your hard work and enthusiasm (And the card and bottle).

I love doing these operations - multiple ligament reconstructions. Their challenging nature and the different skills and kit required make it so interesting, and ultimately, seeing a completely unstable knee become stable again after the hard work is so rewarding. Again as i always say, but so important in these cases..this is just the beginning - appropriate post-operative rehabilitation and dedication to physiotherapy and re-conditioning are essential for a successful outcome. Thanks again to the wonderful team and the support from

A brilliant and efficient day at Abergele yesterday working hard for the patients of North Wales and Wrexham Maelor - 6 joint replacements done on a single NHS list before 5pm - all as training cases too! Zimmer Partial Knees and Microport Medial Pivot Total Knees.
Hugely grateful to all the hard work and teamwork that goes in, to enabling me to do my job and help as many patients as possible. Not just the team on the day but the people who organise the lists, contact the patients, make sure they're ready and suitable and as prepared as they can be for the day, and looking after them and their rehab after surgery.
This demonstrates that in North Wales we have the staff and facilities available to deliver high quality, efficient Orthopaedic care, and we need the support to do this regularly to help bring our waiting lists down and better serve our community.

The end of the year is often a time to reflect..
I'm so grateful to my wonderful support network, my fantastic colleagues and mentors, my brilliant secretaries Janine and Deva Medical management , the staff at Wrexham and Chester and my juniors who all help me tremendously and help me focus on my job.. but most of all my wife and family who it's all for.

To my patients.. I'm very grateful for your hard work pre and post procedure to help achieve your best outcomes, and for all your wonderful reviews.. as i reach 100!
If I've seen or treated you I hope I've made a difference 🫢. If you're waiting to see me I hope it will be soon 🀞.

But for now.. a chance to rest up for a week and enjoy time with family before going again and doing my best in 2026 πŸ’ͺ.

Wishing you all health and happiness at Christmas and all the best for 2026 🫢❀️.

A pleasure to see this gentle giant back in clinic today. Athletes come in all shapes and sizes..and different sports require different skill sets. But you can't wrestle with an unstable knee!

Having been turned down previously because of his size, i was determined to help him get back to doing what he loves.

It was a challenge, but it''s over to him and the talented physiotherapists now.

He's told me he'll lift me above his head and squat when I next see him 😳.

What a wonderful 24 hours in Frankfurt for some professional development. Exploring and developing my toolbox to offer patients bespoke treatments in cartilage repair and joint preservation.

Being your biggest critic can be a blessing and a curse..
Imposter Syndrome has been tough these last couple of weeks. Not sure why but I've just felt not up to the standards I set myself - it's hard to show up when you're doubting your ability to do the best for your patients. So what a timely clinic this week with plenty of happy post op patients! Someone obviously knew i needed a boost.. or just coincidence. Keep the demons off your back.. keep showing up and setting the bar high πŸ’ͺ. Diolch πŸ™.

Reviews like this keep you going as a surgeon. Some days are a struggle and you question if you're good enough.. we often dwell on what we could do better or any complications we have, it's easy to forget the happy patients as we may not see them again. So when reviews like this come through it means a lot 🫢. When I saw it, I joked that my mum could have written it..but that reminded me of something a mentor once said.. 'Each patient is someone's mum/dad/daughter/son/wife/husband etc.. so treat them how you would want someone to treat yours'.
