Unfortunately, this is a summary of one of the most difficult experiences I’ve had in a relationship.

It wasn’t love.
It was confusion, control, emotional pain, and a trauma bond that took time to fully understand and break.

This week marks something very important for me:
👉 the end of my trauma bond.

And I’m proud to say that.

Next month, new courses will be available through Recovery Trauma, because everything I went through taught me something I now want to pass on.

I learned:
• How to set strong boundaries
• How to trust my own perception again
• How to recognise manipulation and coercive control
• How to leave, even when it feels impossible

I won’t pretend it was easy.
There were moments where I doubted myself, questioned reality, and felt completely lost.

But I also see this now:

This experience made me stronger.
It pushed me to build something meaningful.
It shaped the work I do today.

And honestly — I don’t know if Recovery Trauma would exist in this way without it.



If you are in an abusive or confusing relationship, please read this:
• Don’t ignore the signs
• Don’t minimise what you feel
• Don’t isolate yourself

👉 Talk to someone you trust
👉 Reach out to friends or professionals
👉 Write things down — patterns become clearer over time

You are not “too sensitive.”
You are not “overreacting.”
You are responding to something real.



Today, I’m choosing to take the strength from this experience.

I broke the trauma bond.
And I’m finally free from it.

You’re not “too much.”
You’re not “overreacting.”
Sometimes… you’re responding to someone who hasn’t healed yet.
• He fears abandonment but pushes you away
• He struggles to open up emotionally
• He people-pleases… then builds resentment
• Small things trigger big reactions
• He hides insecurity behind control or perfectionism

This isn’t about blaming.
It’s about understanding patterns.

Because unhealed wounds don’t disappear…
They show up in love.

And if they’re not faced — they get passed on.

Healing is possible. Awareness is the first step.

1. Anger That Comes Out of Nowhere

Example:
You snap at your partner over something small (like dishes). Later you realize it wasn’t about that—it felt like being ignored as a kid.

Healing move:
Pause and ask: “What does this actually remind me of?”
Then say (even out loud): “I felt unseen back then—and I’m reacting to that now.”



2. Struggling to Express Emotions

Example:
You were told “man up” growing up, so now you shut down instead of opening up.

Healing move:
Start small: tell someone “I’m stressed” or “I feel overwhelmed” instead of staying silent. Build emotional vocabulary gradually.



3. Overworking to Feel Worthy

Example:
You tie your value to success because praise only came when you achieved something.

Healing move:
Deliberately rest without “earning it.” Remind yourself: “I’m allowed to exist without proving anything.”



4. Fear of Rejection in Relationships

Example:
You avoid getting close or sabotage relationships because you expect abandonment.

Healing move:
When you feel like pulling away, say: “This feels like old fear, not current reality.” Then choose connection instead of escape.



5. People-Pleasing

Example:
You say yes to everything because growing up, love felt conditional.

Healing move:
Practice one small “no” a day. Even: “I can’t make it tonight.” Sit with the discomfort—it’s part of rewiring.



6. Difficulty Trusting Others

Example:
You keep emotional distance because you were let down as a kid.

Healing move:
Test trust in small ways—share something minor and see that not everyone betrays you.



7. Harsh Inner Critic

Example:
You constantly tell yourself you’re not good enough, echoing how you were spoken to growing up.

Healing move:
Catch the voice and reframe it:
Old: “You’re useless.”
New: “You’re learning. That’s okay.”



8. Avoiding Vulnerability with Other Men

Example:
You joke around with friends but never talk about real struggles.

Healing move:
Try one honest sentence:
“Honestly, I’ve been having a tough time lately.”
You’ll often find others open up too.



9. Needing Control

Example:
You get anxious when things aren’t in your control because childhood felt chaotic.

Healing move:
Intentionally let small things go (e.g., don’t micromanage a plan). Train your nervous system that you’re safe.



10. Feeling Emotionally Numb

Example:
You don’t feel much—good or bad—because you learned to shut down early.

Healing move:
Reconnect slowly: music, workouts, nature, or journaling. Ask: “What am I feeling right now?” even if the answer is “nothing.”
