Hello! We’re just on the edge of spring and I don’t know about you but I can’t wait for it to be here.

Winter is always a rough season for me mentally but I wanted to share a few of my favourite things I did to make it a bit better for me.

Read a ton of books. I wasn’t ever a big reader as kid or young adult but I’m making up for lost time now and diving into all sorts of new genres too.

Walk everyday even if it’s a bit grim outside. Some days this was just 500 meters to the nearest shops and back but I always felt good when I got back (probably because I then promptly got a snack and a cup of coffee).

With spring coming I’ve got grand plans of big hikes and lounging in a hammock but for now I’ll make do with it just not raining constantly.

From March onwards all new clients who are referred by a friend/family member and book in get 20% off their first appointment! Just simply book in and mention the name of your referrer and you’ll get 20% off on the day of your appointment.

But it isn’t fair just to reward those new to Ember Massage is it?! So if you’re an existing client and you refer someone who books in you’ll get 20% off your next appointment too. You can use this as many times as new clients mention you too!

Did you know you don’t need to be qualified or registered to be a massage therapist in England?!

After finishing my massage therapy qualification I immediately started looking for the right organisation to register myself with and the Federation of Holistic Therapists was the perfect fit for me.

So I’m really excited for another year of learning and developing as a massage therapist and I hope I see you at an appointment soon!

Should a massage hurt to have a benefit? Absolutely not. “No pain, no gain” does not apply to massages.

This doesn’t just apply relaxing and nurturing massages either, deep tissue techniques do not have to hurt to provide relief. I work hard with all my clients to help their mind and body relax into the session because that leads to best outcomes and most benefits.

On occasions where there are stubborn and troublesome adhesions/knots there may be some discomfort during parts of the massage to get the relief you want. But this discomfort is normal, overt pain isn’t.

Self care is highly personal and individual to you. But what self care isn’t, is just lighting a scented candle once.

Self care is about making time and taking action to do something that will simply make you feel better physically or mentally. That benefit could be short term or an investment in making you feel better in the long run. It might feel awkward or selfish at the time but I promise it’ll have more benefits than you think it will.

So what ever you do for your self care, be consistent and commit to taking your wellbeing seriously. Self care is one of the most impactful things you can do to improve your health and overall wellbeing.
