"Federica, I gained 2 pounds overnight, what's going on?!” 😱

I often get asked this by slimmers, and the first thing I’ll say is, "Don't panic, it's not fat!"

How do I know this? Well, in order to gain 1 pound of extra fat you need to consume 3,500 calories MORE than your recommended daily allowance (which is 2,000 for a woman and 2,500 for a man). So, to gain 2 pounds of fat overnight a woman would need to have eaten 9,000 calories in one day! Pretty difficult, hey?

So, if it's not fat, what caused that gain? Here are 7 possible reasons:

1. You ate salty food yesterday. Sodium causes the body to hold on to water, causing temporary weight gain. Keep drinking plenty of water and it will be gone in a few hours.
2. You ate too many carbs. Your body will have replenished its glycogen stores. For every gram of glycogen the body stores, it also stores 3 grams of water! Go back on plan and that glycogen and water will soon be gone.
3. You weighed in earlier than usual, so there's probably still some food left in your stomach.
4. You ate later than usual last night. See number 3.
5. You need to "go". This weight plays a huge role in body weight fluctuations. It's temporary and will sort itself out soon enough!
6. You had a tough workout yesterday. This can cause temporary water retention and will pass when you drink your 2.25l of water.
7. Ladies, it's coming up to that time of month. Mother Nature is often really mean to us around this time and our bods retain water.

So stop panicking! Unless you ate 9,000 calories yesterday, I can safely say you have nothing to worry about! Just stick to the plan and keep going!

Dear returning slimmers...

The messages are starting to come in from people wanting to come back to me after being at home and living in PJs through lockdown, jeans are tight and the dread has set in at putting work clothes back on 😔⁣

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀...?

How many times have you said ‘this won’t hurt, it’s only one thing’?

How many times have we said that and it’s quickly turned into a whole evening/day/weekend/week/month/year...?

Before you know it you’re looking back wondering why you made the decisions you did.... and how it was never worth it in the first place.

Does it stop you the next time?....

If this sounds like you then the next time this happens, I want you to stop, think and choose....

Make a decision…is that ‘large pizza more important than looking in the mirror feeling love and respect for yourself and a body that you love?

Is that ‘whole tub of ice cream’ more important than your health/well being or being able to do everything you’ve dreamt of with your children?

Maybe it’s that you’re loosing weight to have an operation, to not need a seat belt extender on the plane, to feel lovely when you’re lying on the beach in the sunshine - after all you really can’t get away with wearing your cardigan on the beach! Maybe it’s for your health, to be able to run around with the kids or grandkids without getting short of breath or maybe you’re getting married?!.....

What do 𝗬𝖮𝗨 want?

It’s so easy for 1 little thing to cloud our vision and take away our focus. It’s in these moments of weakness we forget our ‘WHY’.

So, Ask yourself again....

𝗪𝗛𝗬 do 𝗬𝖮𝗨 want this?
Is it important?
Does it mean the world to you?

Now if this is 𝗬𝖮𝗨.... then build yourself back up again, change your attitude, this is NOT a chore... this is YOUR LIFE, YOUR FUTURE

Half of 2021 has now officially passed!

What are your goals for the remaining half ?

Where do you want to be?

Why is it important to you?

What do you need to do to achieve that?

What strategies do you have to make sure you achieve that?

How committed are you to your health goals?

Write small achievable goals and plans for the weeks and months ahead.

Write, plan, review , achieve.

*Food is Fuel - not a measure of your morality.*

Remember, food is never about morality. Reorganising the language you use around eating is really important. ✅

Scrap the idea of ‘good’ days and ‘bad’ days. Ditch the ‘I’ve been sooooo BAD’ messages you feedback to yourself. Instead, have ‘on plan’ and ‘off plan’ days. We can also PLAN to have an ‘off plan’ day - which means you’re always in control. ✅

Food is just fuel - like putting petrol in the car. 🚙 We never feel guilty for needing to stop for petrol - just like we should never feel bad about putting good-quality fuel in our bodies in order to expend great-quality energy. ✅

Likewise, there’s no need to overfill your car’s petrol tank - when the dial says ‘full’ do you carry on filling up extra bottles of petrol to carry around on your backseat? Of course not. 😀 You don’t need to - because we know that the next time the tank is running low, there will be a service station handy to fill up again.✅

Food is the same - we are lucky enough to live in a time and country where there are no food shortages - you don’t have to overeat or fill up on extra calories 'just in case'. Simply eat what your body needs for the day ahead of you. This is the key to healthy weight maintenance.✅

About me

I started my weight loss journey with my husband 7 years ago. I knew the plan worked as I had witnessed the fantastic results on a couple of my friends. People kept telling me I looked fine but after my second child I didn’t lose all my baby weight and I struggled to lose it. I wasn’t happy with my body and I didn’t like the way I looked. I made the decision to change things and once again feel better about myself. The 1:1 Diet plan worked around my lifestyle and not the other way around. I was still able to eat with my family while losing the weight. It wasn’t always easy and I had some bad days along the way but as the results started showing I felt motivated to keep going and to reach my goal. With the weekly support of my consultant not only did I lose the weight but I have also maintained my weight loss for 7 years!!!! The most important thing I learnt was keeping to my healthy eating habits and I still try to live by these habits even today.

No matter how much weight we need or want to lose, we all want to feel good about ourselves and I would love the opportunity to be there for you on your journey. Together we will find a step that works for you and together we will reach your goal to be a healthier version of yourself. What to expect: On your first consultation I will spend some time explaining the plan (if you don’t know about it already) and together we will choose the best plan and way forward for you.

All you need to bring with you is your enthusiasm and motivation!!!
