A little throwback showing out of the box thinking! 💚

For Swallowing Awareness Day 2026, our Wales Therapies and PBS team spent the day following real eating, drinking and swallowing plans.

That meant modified food, thickened drinks and using specialist equipment.

What they found was simple, but powerful.
⌛ Meals took longer.
❌ Things felt more restrictive.
😓 And eating suddenly needed more effort.

It gave them a real insight into how this can feel for the people we support, not just physically, but emotionally too. And the team are already thinking about how they can shape support to overcome these barriers.

We’re so proud of this team for going the extra mile to really understand the people we support 👏

This week our Kedleston supported living home officially opened, and three people have moved in already to start their next chapter.

Graeme has wasted no time settling in. He’s been busy building his new furniture and heading out into the community with his new Support Worker to explore new places and try new things. This is how a building becomes something much more special… a home. 🏡

We can’t wait to see the memories, friendships and independence that grow here in the weeks and months ahead.

Because of you, we’ve raised an amazing £3,052, which will be split evenly between two brilliant charities chosen by our colleagues:

🌼 £1,526 for Alzheimer's Society

The ‘Your Say’ survey helps us understand what’s working well and where we can keep improving ivolve for our colleagues and the people we support. And every response also helps us give something back to causes doing life-changing work across the UK.

Designed with calm spaces, sensory gardens, and expert nursing support, Ty Heulog will be a place where people can feel safe, settled, and truly at home. 💚

We’re now:
🏡 Accepting referrals for people who need specialist nursing support
