For many people, symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) can feel stronger or harder to manage this time of year.
Please see the helpful advice below:

For some people, symptoms of seasonal affective disorder (SAD) can feel more noticeable or harder to manage during the winter.

But small things can help:

🔵 try some physical activity – anything that gets you moving
🔵 make the most of natural light – getting outside or sitting near windows
🔵 plan for tougher days – shifting stressful tasks or building in more rest

There’s also treatment available if you’re finding things really tough – such as light therapy, talking therapies or medication.

📢 Important Notice – Sharps Disposal

We kindly remind patients not to leave sharps or sharps boxes outside the surgery, even when returning them for disposal.

Recently, two sharpsguard boxes were left outside the building while we were closed, and one box was open. This is unsafe and poses a risk to staff, patients, and the public.

If you need to return a sharps box, please ensure it is fully closed and hand it directly to a member of our reception team during opening hours.

Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe.

🌍 World COPD Day 🌬️
Today we’re proud to support World COPD Day — a reminder of how important it is to look after your lung health.

If you have COPD, staying on top of your regular reviews helps us support you in managing symptoms, preventing flare-ups, and keeping you feeling your best.

📅 If you’re due (or think you might be due) for your COPD check, please contact the practice to book an appointment.
Our team is here to help with medication reviews, inhaler technique, lifestyle support, and any questions you may have.

Let’s breathe better together. 💙

It’s World COPD Day.

Colder weather can cause breathing problems if you have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Make sure you know how to look after yourself or someone else living with COPD.

🌟 We’re Supporting the Pathways of Chesterfield Rucksack Appeal! 🌟

We’re proud to be taking part in this year’s Rucksack Appeal to support people experiencing homelessness in our community.

🧣🧦🧼 How You Can Help:
We’re collecting donations of essential items, including:

Warm hats, gloves, socks

Toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, wipes)

Thermal clothing

Small blankets

Non-perishable snacks

Reusable water bottles

📍 Where to Donate:
Please drop your items at reception during our opening hours before 10th December.

The GP Partners at the practice have kindly donated a rucksack for us to fill.

Your kindness can make a huge difference to someone facing a difficult winter. Thank you for supporting this important local cause ❤️

If you have any questions, feel free to message us or ask at reception.

Just a little reminder to start gathering items for the Rucksack Appeal! 🧦🎒

Pop a couple of small bits into your trolley each week — every item counts and helps make a real difference for someone this winter.

We’ve seen the amazing things our community can do when we pull together. 💪✨

Remember drop off those bags from the 1st of December until the 12th of December!

Remembrance Day – 11th November

Today we pause to remember and honour all those who have served and sacrificed for our country.

Mel’s 24-Hour Prison Break for Ashgate Hospice!

Our amazing ANP, Mel, is taking on an incredible challenge next week to raise vital funds for Ashgate Hospice.

In her own words:
*“This time next week I’ll be nearly halfway through my 24-hour prison break. I’m no stranger to wacky races, but this one has me scared! I’ll be starting at midnight in a field in the middle of the countryside, dressed as a convict, being chased by ‘the Crow’. No idea how I’ll hold up—physically or mentally—but I’m looking forward to the challenge.
It’s all for a good cause: Ashgate Hospice, who are in dire need of funds. Any donations would be gratefully received. If anyone wants to track me next week, I’ll upload the tracker on Friday.”*

We are so proud of Mel for taking on such a fearless fundraiser! 💪🖤

If you’re able to support her and Ashgate Hospice, please consider donating. Every little helps.

Good luck, Mel — we’re all behind you! ✨
