Today, Katie Dyett, the Business Development Manager at Barlborough Hospital, is visiting our referrers out in the community. She brought along small tokens of appreciation for our top three cataract referrers for the 2025/26 year:

Boots Opticians - Crystal Peaks, Sheffield
Robert Hughes Eyecare - Woodhouse, Sheffield
Murgatroyd Holmes - Staveley, Chesterfield

Its fantastic to see that two of our top three referrers are independent practices. We have truly enjoyed nurturing these relationships while expanding our Ophthalomology Service, where our patients are always the priority.

🌟 Ongoing Staff Development at Barlborough Hospital 🌟

Exciting news! Our Pharmacy Manager, Michael Stewart, is taking a significant step in his professional journey by pursuing his Independent Precscriber qualification at De Montfort University, Leicester. As part of this course, he's gearing up to tackle the NEWS2 assessment - a vital NHS scoring system that helps assess acute illness severity and detect any clinical deteriotation in patients. 💜
Michael has been actively practicing his skills at Barlborough Hospital, working with our wonderful staff to measure cruicial indicators like blood pressure, oxygen saturation, heart rate, and temperature. 🩺
A special shout-out to all those who volunteered their time to support Michael in this important endeavour. We wish him the best of luck on his upcoming assessment!
Thanks also to our trainee Pharmacist, Shahad, for helping in the background with the marking and getting in some practice herself!

We believe in treating you as quickly and carefully as possible, helping you to feel better, faster.

Our hospital specialises in orthopaedic surgery, including hip, knee, shoulder and elbow, foot and ankle, hand and spinal procedures. We also provide an ophthalmology service which is led by Newmedica.

We also offer patients the option to pay for their own treatment if they are not eligible for NHS-funded care or do not have private health insurance.
