Mr Stanley John Wilson of Staveley has passed away at Chesterfield Royal Hospital aged 84.

Born in Hackney, London, Stan had lived locally for the last eight and a half years. Before retiring in 1998, he had been employed as a bus driver/inspector.

Stan's interests included buses and football.

Stan leaves his wife - Pauline (Polly), children - Clare, Lynn, Andrew, Des, Del, and Stuart, grandchildren- Becci, Emma, Dayna, Taran, Reece, Kira, Kyle, Taylor, Jess, and Millie, and great grandchildren- Ruben and Matthew.

Stan's funeral will take place at Chesterfield Crematorium on Monday 24th November at 12:10pm. Family flowers only.

Mr Roy Smith of Birdholme has passed away at Chesterfield Royal Hospital aged 83.

Born in Chesterfield, Roy was a lifelong resident of the area. He had been employed as a miner, and then at the glassworks, BTH, GKN, and Sheepbridge Stokes until retiring.

In his spare time, Roy enjoyed car boot sales and collecting coins.

Roy leaves his wife - Carole, children- Mark and Julie, and grandchildren- Georgia, Jamie, Tom, and Meg.

Roy's funeral will take place at the Parish Church of SS Augustine, Chesterfield on Thursday 20th November at 1pm,followed by interment at Boythorpe Cemetery.

Mrs Janice Crabtree (nee Shepherd) of Staveley has passed away at home aged 73.

Born in Sheffield, Jan had been a resident of Woodseats and Frecheville until July 2025. Before retiring, she had been employed as a shop worker at Jesney's bakery in Woodseats.

In her spare time, Jan enjoyed dancing - specifically line dancing. More recently, she developed a love for cruising.

Jan leaves her husband- Nigel, daughter - Sally, and grandchildren- Nathaniel, Harry, Abi, Max, Chelsie, and Craig.

Jan's funeral will take place at Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium on Tuesday 18th November at 11:15pm. Those attending are respectfully requested NOT to wear black.

Following the service, there will be an opportunity to share your memories of Jan at Frecheville Community Centre. Donations in Jan's memory will be received on behalf of Ashgate Hospice.

Mr Michael John Kerry of Staveley has passed away at the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, aged 61.

Born in Chesterfield, Mick was a lifelong resident of the area. He had been employed as a security guard and then a cleaner before retiring due to ill health.

In his spare time, Mick enjoyed watching Last of the Summer Wine, Carry on films, and gardening programmes. He liked having a beer and a laugh with family and friends, and playing with his grandchildren – if they were happy – he was happy.

Mick leaves his wife – Samantha, children – Samuel, Charlotte, Ashley, Wendy, Jaqui, and Toni, and grandchildren – Olivia and Brogan. He was pre-deceased by son – James.

Mick’s funeral will take place at Chesterfield Crematorium on Monday 17th November at 12:10pm.

Born in Doncaster, Julie had been a resident of Derbyshire for many years. She worked as a customer assistant in Tesco Clay Cross for almost 13 years.

In her spare time, Julie enjoyed baking, cooking, watching wildlife, food with her family, sudoku, and wordsearch puzzles.

Julie leaves her husband- John, daughter - Alexandra, sons - James, Daniel, and Christopher, step-daughters - Emma and Laura, and seven grandchildren.

In his spare time, Ian enjoyed painting, woodwork, and photography.

Ian leaves his widow – Bet, daughters – Michelle and Debra, and grandchildren – Roxanne, Sam, and Bradley.

Born in Chesterfield, Kanisha was a lifelong resident of the area and was employed as a senior care assistant.

In her spare time, Kanisha enjoyed travelling, making memories, beach holidays, and visiting restaurants – especially Miller & Carter and Harvester. Her number one priority was her daughter – Amaya.

Kanisha leaves her husband – Mason Wade Furniss, and daughter – Amaya.

Sadly this is so heartbreakingly true 💔 Just lately we are having more and more drivers on the roads being impatient and trying to push in on the Funeral Cortège’s in between the Hearse and the Limousines with bereaved family members in, and even on funerals with our horses too.

This is happening to the point where accidents have nearly been caused because someone just wants to cut in or to cut through.

I appreciate we drive slower, but this is someone’s final journey, and this is done out of respect.

Whether this makes you 30 seconds, one minute or two minutes late for where you need to be, think about that person who has passed and the families that are following.

A final journey is so precious 🤍

OPEN DAY 11:00am - 1:00pm

Can we help to trace the final resting place of a loved one or ancestor? Would you like to discuss the options available for the disposal of cremated remains? Are you interested in the memorial schemes available at the Crematorium to commemorate a loved one? Can we help dispel any worries or myths about the Cremation process? During the Open Day we can help answer these questions, and you will get the chance to have a look behind the scenes at the workings of the Crematorium and ask any questions relating to Cremations, Burials or Funeral Services. Behind the scenes tours will start at 11:00am, 11:30am, 12:00pm and 12:30pm and booking is essential, as group sizes are limited.
