This is wonderful news. Much more needed to ensure everyone who needs support can access it, but a fabulous show of how people pull together and open their hearts, pockets and give time. Well done to everyone.

Save a Precious Bed Appeal update ❕

Thanks to your incredible generosity, two of Ashgate Hospice’s specialist inpatient beds have been saved for the next six months. 💜

So far, your support has funded the equivalent of:
- four full-time Registered Nurses
- three full-time Healthcare Assistants
(all on fixed-term contracts)

This means around 25 people needing specialist end of life care – and the people important to them – will continue to receive the expert support they deserve.

We’re so thankful to every person and business who has helped so far.

We are determined to keep these beds open for as long as possible. Every additional £40,000 raised keeps both beds open for another month.

At Chas Widdowsons, we believe that care doesn’t end with a goodbye - it begins with how we support those who care every day.

That’s why we have partnered with Hospice UK to launch Caring with Confidence: a CPD accredited training programme designed to empower nursing home staff with the tools, insight and emotional resilience needed to support grieving families and residents, and for themselves.

Through free, locally delivered training sessions, we are helping care professionals feel confident, informed and supported - because no one should feel alone after a death, especially those who care for others.

We fall silent today for Armistice Day, but do you know why?

The Armistice, an agreement to end the fighting of the First World War as a prelude to peace negotiations, began at 11am on 11 November 1918. Armistice is Latin for to stand (still) arms. To this day we mark Armistice Day around the United Kingdom with two minutes silence at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month.

Today, Rememrance Day, is a national opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of those who have defended our freedom. Thank you to everyone who supported the poppy appeal and who will give honour today at the memorial services around the country.
