The nervous system has two main parts that we talk about a lot in health and wellbeing..

⚡️Sympathetic nervous system Fight, flight, freeze or fawn.
🌿Parasympathetic nervous system, Rest, repair and digest.

The sympathetic nervous system is what keeps us alert, working, driving, solving problems, dealing with stress, running around and getting through busy days.
This system is important, we need it to function and get things done.

But the problem is many people are in this state most of the time and the body never fully switches into the parasympathetic state.

The parasympathetic nervous system is where the body:
Repairs
Digests food properly
Balances hormones
Slows heart rate
Relaxes muscles
Improves sleep
Calms the mind

This is the state where the body does most of its healing, restoring and rebalancing.

If we spend too much time in fight or flight, the body can start to show signs such as:
Poor sleep
Tension
Headaches
Digestive problems
Feeling anxious
Feeling overwhelmed
Fatigue
Hormone imbalance

Reflexology may help by encouraging the body to switch from the sympathetic (fight or flight) state into the parasympathetic (rest and repair) state.🌿

You may say,
“Who needs therapy when we have the tools to do it ourselves?”

And yes, there are lots of things we can do ourselves, walking, breathing, stretching, early nights, less screen time, talking, resting.

But here’s the thing…
Most people don’t stop long enough to actually let the nervous system calm down.
Even when we sit down, we are still on our phones, still thinking, still planning, still worrying.

Sometimes you need someone else to give you that hour where your body has permission to stop.✋

Reflexology is not about fixing you.
It is about helping the body slow down, reset and support the nervous system so the body can do what it is naturally designed to do, restore and rebalance.

STOP EARNING YOUR REST
🚨 You don’t need to be exhausted to
deserve rest.

Read that again…

Not burnt out.
Not overwhelmed.
Not running on empty.

Just… allowed.

Because the truth is
most people don’t stop until their body forces them to.

The headaches.
The tight shoulders.
The constant tiredness.

That’s not random.
That’s your body asking for a pause…
and being ignored.

✨ Rest isn’t a reward
✨ It’s maintenance
✨ It’s how you stay well,
not just recover

So today, instead of pushing through pause before you hit the wall.

Even 10 minutes.
Even one deep breath.
Even saying no.

Because looking after yourself early…
is far more powerful than “fixing”yourself later. 💚💙

Do you ever wake up feeling tired even though you slept well? 😐
Or notice aches in your body when you’ve not really done anything physical? 😐

This can often be a sign that your nervous system is holding tension.

Stress, busy minds and everyday pressures can keep the body in a subtle state of alert, even when we think we’re resting.

Over time this can show up as:
• tiredness
• general aches
• restless sleep
• feeling out of balance

Treatments such as foot, hand and facial reflexology, face acupressure or Indian head massage can help encourage the body back into a state of rest and restoration, allowing it to release built up tension.

Sometimes the body doesn’t need more sleep…
it simply needs the opportunity to reset.

A little Monday honesty…🌿

I usually schedule my posts for the week on Sundays, giving myself time to prepare engaging, informative and hopefully enlightening content.

But yesterday was a little different.

I’m walking Scafell Pike in August, so I went out with 3 friends in the morning, (from the group of 8…maybe more!) to start getting some miles in.🚶

It wasn’t quite the walk we planned.
We unintentionally diverted and it took longer than expected.🤦‍♀️

By the time I got home, spending time with my mum felt far more important than sitting down to write posts.

It reminded me that while planning and being organised is helpful, life doesn’t always follow the schedule we create. Sometimes the most meaningful moments are the ones that ask us to slow down and be present with the people who matter most.

So today’s reminder is simply this…

Even when things don’t go to plan, it doesn’t mean the day was lost.
Sometimes it just means something more important needed your time.🌿

Today we celebrate the women who nurture, guide, support and love in ways both seen and unseen.🌿

Mothers, grandmothers, step mums, carers and the many women who offer that quiet, steady care throughout our lives.🌿

But today can hold many different emotions.

For some it’s a day of celebration.
For others it may bring reflection, longing, or memories of a mum who is no longer here.

If that’s you today, please know you’re not alone. The love you hold for those lost never truly leaves, it simply changes the way it lives in our hearts.

And for the mums who spend so much of their time caring for others, today is also a reminder that you deserve care too. 🌿

A moment to pause.
A moment to breathe.
A moment to simply be.

Sending warmth and gentle wishes to everyone today, whatever this day means for you. 💚
